THE Western Force will soon announce that Matt Giteau will be heading back to Canberra after recuperating after suffering a horrific head knock when attempting to tackle Waratahs fullback Sam Norton-Knight in the 21st minute of Saturday night's Subiaco Oval match.

Giteau, who suffered his third bout of concussion this season, had to be stretchered from the field in a neck brace, but recovered quickly enough to return to the sideline during the half-time break. Even when leaving the field, Giteau was able to give a "thumbs-up" to the television cameras to indicate he had not suffered a serious injury.


A neurosurgeon told Giteau that he need to have some time off and sources within Western Force said yesterday that Giteau had told them he would be returning to Canberra for the week of the bye for rest and recuperation with his friends and family.


As Giteau is crucial to the Force's plans, the province is hoping his departure is short - especially as the fight for fourth finals spot has become more intense following their loss to the Waratahs on Saturday.

Giteau will return to Perth after the break to continue his goal of a Western Force semi final spot.

Remember when he put out a little blurb in the Ruck & Maul defending his Canberra story I think it was after Giteau didn't resign with us...saying that he was obviously right, even though Giteau didn't actually sign with the Brumbies....expect that there will be another follow up saying that it is all going according to his grand plan and he has in fact been in talks since the original article to re-join the Brumbies...revising history of course, leaving out the parts of the article which were very wrong....which at the time were the spearhead of the article....

Yeah, Grumbles is going to run with that until the day Giteau retires. Even if Giteau comes back next week and says he has agreed to join the Brumbies in 2010, Grumbles is still wrong.

Let's not forget his original article claimed that Giteau wanted out of his contract with the Force last year and that he could be back playing with the Brumbies this year.

So it does not matter if Giteau signs with the Brumbies after this contract, GRUMBLES YOU ARE WRONG!!!!!!!!!

But knowing Grumbles, Giteau could play with the Force until after the 2015 Word Cup, then have a year or two in Europe and then sign with the Brumbies, and he'd claim it was he that first broke the news of Giteau wanting to sign back with the Brumbies.
