Getting rid of the Renegades and Thunder would remove ground rental from two teams straight away. Particularly the Renegades stuff paying rent to the AFL.
The problem with Hobart is that Tassie contracted players are playing interstate. Often to fill up the second Sydney and Melbourne sides.
Apparently Keven Pietersen plays for the other Melbourne team, the Stars. Maybe merge the teams and have all the shit players for Melbourne on the one team?

Hamish Kingston - Tasmania
Ben McDermott - Queensland, yet to debut in a Shield Cricket
Simon Milenko - Tasmania
Tim Paine - Tasmania, MIA due to Test selection
Sam Rainbird - Tasmania
Time Rogers - ACT, Offered a contract for Tasmania and played in the ODD completion this year.
Clive Rose - Tasmania
D’arcy Short - WA
Alex Doolan - Tasmania
Riley Meredith - Tasmania
Tymall Mills - England, Sussex.
The only current Tasmanian player I could find on the Sydney Thunder player list is Andrew Fekete and he’s rubbish.
Hobart are missing Ben Dunk at the top of the order who moved to the Melbourne Stars and Tim Paine who is on national duties.
Pretty sure Bird plays for one of the Sydney teams.

I think he plays for the Sixers but he’s not going to doing much being on Test Duty but he’s one player.
The point of the BBL was the make all players available to sign for any side. A lot of sides just signed a lot of their own states players.
As for Brad Hodge’s remarks, the Scorchers have an injury list a mile long and are missing Shaun Marsh who is a T20 gun and Mitch Marsh who is pretty handy in the shorter formats as well. The depth of the Scorchers is being tested and so far they are passing pretty well.
Steve Smith is seriously on another planet at the moment.
I heard hodge say maybe there should be another team coming out of perth while interviewed during the game. He said like Subiaco as an example.
I didn’t realise the BBL was losing money.

Pretty sure expansion talk has been put on hold despite several potential bidders for a side.
The PM went up a few notches today IMO - playing the larrikin by sledging Joe Root at a Kirribilli House reception today.![]()
