get off your ultradepressents Goldie. t e significance of this win is that we were expected to win. every other win this season has come in a game where we were massive underdogs. it wasn't a good game e'er, but at east we got 4 points out of it.

Good point. It's fantastic for the kicking boys of OZ Rugby to have a bitch. The Highlanders are it. Haven't beaten us since 2007 with a record of 2-6 and a differential of 33pts. Coulda been worse if they'd had to front the boys last year.
No doubt they were up for the contest with that record. We have to cop plenty of stick from Kiwi suporters most of the time so enjoy the moment.![]()

First time we have gone undefeated against NZ opposition at home in a season (ok the new conference format helps with only 2 games) but it's not an insignificant achievement.

Gigs, Slomo, the Streakers
Thought we had done our usual and let it slip in the end. Lucky for the highlanders stupid play at the end but we'll take any win we can get. Probably ensured the highlanders are handed the wooden spoon with the win.
Why do we kick the ball so much? Because Foley tells the team that. Our hopeless line out and lack of penetration in the back line restrict our options and guarantee their back 3 get ball all night. I think it is why sias is also preferred at 10 because he kicks better than Christie and SNK can cover fullback.
The 5-2 spilt on the bench betrays Foley's complete lack of confidence in the back line. Our tactics are entirely predictable to opposition teams. We bash it up all game but eventually run out of gas. I think this is a big reason why we lose a lot of close ones.
Hope the back line fires more next year.
a back line that fires is a difficult beast to aquire and often comes with a downside - leaky defence. look at theLions from years past their attack was pretty dangerous but they leaked tries like a seive... last thing i want to see is a team like that.
My boy is in there this week

Great to win a close one.
Two points..
1. Need to learn to score when we are camped on an opposition's line for long periods. Most of our trys come from breaks from 20+metres out, which does make them special and very pretty to watch getting this old fat fart out of his seat and screaming with excitement, rarely score when we are camped on the oppositions line. Let's score some boring trys as well....
2. Need to get much more urgent with turnover ball. When our opponents get a turnover they go hard into attack ball in hand. We need to be taking advantage of the confusion of a changeover from attack to defence that a turnover creates while the defence tries to set itself. We get a turnover and for the most part pump it downfield for the opposition to run back at us or there is no urgency letting the defence get set. Sieze the opportunity that a turnover creates.
Sit Sais down with a tape of the game and show him the difference in posession when he runs it and kicks it. When he runs it, he's actually not bad (although this may be because he's caught the opposition off-guard!)
