Gutted might be a term we all felt at about 9PM last Friday - but, lets look at the bright spots.

Of our recruits Gits looked good and Cross showed some promise. I believe he'll get better as he gets used to the changes of our code. Takiari seemed to have a reasonable game (though I am a little scared at some of our scrum performances)

But the best news is we are 8th on the ladder. Last season we were 12th after round one, didn't get a point until round 8, and spent rounds 2 through 14 on the bottom (though I do vaguely recall we may have "jumped" to 13th for a week at about round 12/13, then The Cats won a game and back we went!)

We also come up against a couple of sides that got "tumped" last week on our SA trip.

    Go Force!
western force are currently 2nd on the rugby heaven web site ladder at the moment. Pretty cool!! Long may it last.

    The Lions beat Otago?

Will we win at home...that is the question.

Counting down the days until the next home game.

Third sounds so much better than equal third with five others doesn't it
I reckon I know which way the Highlanders would be reporting it

We were 1st after the game for 2 hours, then the Sharks beat the Waratahs, so we moved to second

OK currently 4th..........but a lot of the round to go.

Anyone noticed that after round 5 we've got the same number of points as at seasons end last year! So for all our dissapointments at close losses and ugly draws, things still are really looking up.

    Good point WF2006

The Cheetahs Chiefs Draw has also helped a little.
Now if only the Brumbies and Bulls do the same and the Reds do the Lions we should have climbed a little.

Don't need to see any improvement in the Reds for at least 3 more weeks Burgs - even for the honor of staying 4th
