    Fantasy Wallabies

I'm just glad this mob don't choose the real Wallaby squad.

Matt Giteau misses starting spot in foxsports.com.au's Wallabies team
    By staff writers
May 26, 2010 With Robbie Deans set to announce his next Wallabies squad on Thursday, the team at Fox Sports Fantasy HQ have decided their starting XV - and there is no place for Matt Giteau.

Deans took the opportunity to blood a new generation of Wallabies on Australia's season-ending European tour in 2009, and we, too, have maintained a focus on building towards the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

And what better place to start selection dissection than with a look at the stand-out Fantasy heavyweights from the 2010 Super 14 campaign.

While certain intangibles cannot be measured in Fantasy Land, we do get a clear indication of the work-rate and pure involvement of players on the statistical side of the game.

So take a look at out proposed squad on the right of screen and let us know what you think.

Would you be horrified if this was the XV selected to take the field in the Wallabies' first Test against Fiji? Or how about the opening Bledisloe Cup clash against New Zealand?

What potential bolters could still be in contention to make the side? And which incumbents need to make way after failing to deliver on the international stage?

We want to hear your case for the players who should don the gold jersey in 2010. So don't just send us your list of names; anyone can do that. Get on your soapbox and vent your spleen.

    15. Peter Hynes
    14. Digby Ioane
    13. Ryan Cross
    12. James O'Connor
    11. Drew Mitchell
    10. Quade Cooper
    9. Luke Burgess (Will Genia injured)
    8. Stephen Hoiles
    7. David Pocock
    6. Rocky Elsom
    5. Nathan Sharpe
    4. Dean Mumm
    3. Al Baxter
    2. Tatafu Polota-Nau

I understand it was based on stats.. but those stats were flawed especially in the back row where hard work on and off the ball was never rewarded (eg: Hodgson)

Cross only got into the stats because he changed from 13 to 12 and actually got majority of ball, pity he wasnt able to use it much.

on form Id certainly replace Cross & Burgess replacing them with Sheehan & AAC or Ioane into 13 and Davies on the Wing (although i believe he is injured at the moment)

    No.

Or how about the opening Bledisloe Cup clash against New Zealand?

It could happen, but I wouldn't be too confident of a positive outcome...
