    Shepherd makes his move

    Mon, 04 May 2009 16:13

Western Force wing Cameron Shepherd tops the individual try-scoring standings after Week 12 with seven tries while Morne Steyn still heads up the individual point-scorers table with 130 points.

Shepherd's try during the Force's 29-32 loss against the Bulls last weekend, took him past the Blues' Isaia Toeava (six tries) while Steyn's four penalties and one conversion in the same match, increased his lead at the top of the standings.

The Blues have been the most potent attacking outfit this season, having racked up 44 tries but they've also been the worst defensively, having leaked 41 tries.
The Cheetahs not only prop up the overall standings but they also languish at the bottom of the team try-scoring stats having scored only 20 tries so far this season.

    Leading point-scorers:
    130 - Morne Steyn (Bulls)
    110 - Rory Kockott (Sharks)
    104 - Stephen Donald (Chiefs)
    96 - Matt Giteau (Force)
    86 - Jimmy Gopperth (Blues)

    Leading try-scorers:
    7 - Cameron Shepherd (Force)
6 - Isaia Toeava (Blues), Joe Rokocoko (Blues), Anthony Tuitavake (Blues), Sitiveni Sivivatu (Chiefs), Tamati Ellison (Hurricanes), Ma'a Nonu (Hurricanes), Henno Mentz (Lions), JP Pietersen (Sharks)

    Team tries:
    44 - Blues
    43 - Hurricanes
    41 - Chiefs
    35 - Force
    30 - Reds, Brumbies, Bulls
    29 - Lions
    27 - Sharks
    25 - Highlanders
    22 - Crusaders, Stormers
    21 - Waratahs
    20 - Cheetahs

“Let me put it this way, A Springbok team contains Afrikaners, Englishmen, coloureds and blacks. It has parochial foes in Bulls, Sharks, Stormers, Cheetahs and Lions. It is a recipe for war! Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. The man is a legend!”- Jake White

The team looks so much better with Shep in it. Shame he missed so many games early on.

anyone know whats happened with Valo's citing over the weekend?

    was it thrown out?
seems to me that he was simply running to get out the way and the guy was tackled into him.. hence no arms etc..

And how did Rory Kockett only get one week for striking? go figure... is it because a scrumhalf is seen as a light weight and can't do much damage?
