Touring brings out gimp in Hayman
September 19, 2007
It was a moment of levity amid the often humdrum life of a touring All Black. And it came from the most unexpected of quarters. About 50 media types were interviewing half a dozen team members in their hotel's garden when out of nowhere came a large individual running manically through the throng.
It transpired it was Carl Hayman doing his best impression of a gimp. The big All Blacks prop is garnering himself a reputation as a prankster after years of deadpanning it in public. Meanwhile, the Kiwis will wear their silver-grey second strip when they take on the dark blues of Scotland on Sunday. It will be the first time the All Blacks have not worn black in a World Cup game for 12 years.
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
Putting the alternative kiwi strip up for the award of worse looking team gear of the World Cup thus far. However stiff competition from England and Australia could force a deciding vote.
