The Sharks have signed Blue Bulls flyhalf Jacques-Louis Potgieter for the 2011 season, making him available to the team for the inaugural Vodacom Super 15 tournament.
Potgieter is presently the first-choice flyhalf in Pretoria, but has strong competition for the position from Springbok Morne Steyn, the new darling of Loftus, and has opted to continue his career at The Sharks as of next year.

Potgieter was crucial to the Free State Cheetah's Absa Currie Cup campaign in 2009, assisting in taking his team to the final where they lost, incidentally to the team he presently represents.

The 25-year-old began his professional career at the Bulls, making his provincial debut for the Blue Bulls in 2005 at the age of 21. Two years later, he made his Vodacom Super 14 debut against the Cheetahs, a team he represented for the next two years (2008/09) before returning to Pretoria.

In between accumulating 68 provincial caps (42 for the Blue Bulls and 26 for Free State), he also represented the Griffons briefly, earning five caps.

He shared his Vodacom Super 14 rugby almost equally between the Cheetahs with 17 caps and a further 15 for the Bulls, including playing in the final in 2010.
