Lachie Turner, Drew Mitchell, Peter Hynes and Adam Ashley-Cooper were all ahead of Tuqiri, as would be Digby Ioane if he wasn't injured. It's sad but true that Tuqiri, who in the past month was relegated to the Sydney club ranks, was at best No.5 or No.6 in the Wallabies' wing pecking order. That is a fact that cannot be denied.
You could add Shep to that list as well. That would push Lote down to 7 in the pecking order.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

A WALLABY roommate of Lote Tuqiri is believed to have been grilled over the possible breach of team rules that escalated into his contract being torn up and pending legal action.

Two of the Wallabies' private team rules, under coach Robbie Deans, are the alcohol breath-testing of randomly selected players the morning after Test matches and a tight code on just who is allowed to enter the hotel rooms of players in Test week.
How about this for a potential Rumor: Lote was sacked for bring female(not his wife) company back to his room in curfew hours. Now that will be tough for LT to deal with, the money or the missus???

Cameron Shepherd practically scored more tries in his four odd Super 14 games this year than Lote did in his last 5 years of Super 14.

    Tuqiri's manager in NRL move

Brent Read and Bret Harris | July 07, 2009
    Article from: The Australian
IN the first concrete sign sacked Wallabies winger Lote Tuqiri is seriously considering a return to rugby league, his manager has approached the NRL about becoming an accredited agent.

NRL accreditation manager Paul Osborne confirmed he received a call from Les Ross, who manages Tuqiri, on Sunday. Ross asked Osborne what he needed to do to become accredited.

Under NRL rules, Ross is forbidden to negotiate with clubs until he completes the accreditation process. His decision to consider becoming accredited represents a backflip -- two years ago, when Wendell Sailor was negotiating his return to the NRL with St George Illawarra, Ross stepped down as his agent.

It appears he is prepared to alter his attitude when it comes to Tuqiri, who was sacked by the ARU last week for breaching the Wallabies' code of conduct.

Tuqiri has already fielded inquiries from several NRL clubs about a return to the game which made him a star. Brisbane, Gold Coast and Penrith have been mooted as potential destinations, while the Bulldogs have also made contact with Ross.

"He rang me to ask for an application," Osborne said.

"Under the general rules of the collective bargaining agreement, clubs aren't allowed to negotiate with his agent."

Should Ross seek accreditation, it could take more than a month to complete the paperwork. Given Tuqiri is unlikely to receive special dispensation from the NRL to return to the game this season -- he would need approval given the June 30 deadline for registrations has passed -- that time frame should not be an issue.

Ross will need to convince a panel of seven that he is worthy of accreditation. The panel includes representatives from the players union and the Australian Rugby League as well as two accredited managers -- Allan Gainey and Andrew Purcell. Tuqiri would need to take a sizeable pay cut to return to the NRL, but it appears he is willing to explore the concept.

The other option for Tuqiri is to pursue his rugby career in Europe with a rich English or French club.

Meanwhile, the NSW Waratahs have stepped up their search for a foreign winger to replace Tuqiri, fielding several enquiries from overseas players.

"The loss of Lote leaves a big hole in our squad, there's no doubt about that," Waratahs coach Chris Hickey said.

"We've had to get out now and see what players might be available. It's probably a little difficult at this stage of the season because a lot of players have re-contracted for next year.

"We've had a number of enquiries from players overseas. We need to have a look at that. Our preference is from within Australia, but if that's not possible, then an overseas player becomes an option."

    Well Duh!
Remember journalists get paid for writing the bleeding obvious (although I note Bret Harris needed help with this one!)
