Hodgson was sensational. His go forward, leg drive and defence was awesome
Sharpe was clinical in his own game
DHP was very impressive with ball in hand but some of the defence was a worry
Inman was good on debut. He is a very powerful runner and put on some massive hits
McAlman went OK. He'll need a bit more beef to make an impact at super level.
The pack was magnificent. The injury crisis is cruel. The lads would have been very competitive in this comp with a functional backline.

The 'Canes reserve halfback was very impressive on debut. The Canes were trademan-like. They won the match with a BP without getting into top gear.

Sharpie, Rabbit, DHP all good. Hodgo did well, too. Thought Sheehan brought a nice bit of aggro. Well done to the boys for playing up to the whistle! We didn't lie down.

We have to make first tackles and our "last line" defence frequently had holes you could drive a semi through.

I was reasonably happy with the bulk of our performance - a couple sloppy tackles which should have stuck, but all said and done - well done men.

Without the benefit of sobriety and a replay, Inman had the best debut.

    [ed:] Really enjoyed watching Sheehan!

How do you figure that? At 108kg, he's 5kg more than Brown and easily equal to many successful 8/6s in the competition...

A fair effort given the side selected. Good work on scoring 3 tries more than last week.

There are a few areas which require some particular focus in the video review of the game. The first two 'canes tries were fairly soft in relation to the flat and narrow nature of the defensive line, which ellison to his credit was able to execute a couple of grubbers through with no one back. As sharpie mentioned in his post match interview, the missed one on one tackles also made a difference in terms of the scoreboard. The other problem I had with the defensive line was at times there was an over committment by a defender too early, creating a gap for the canes to run through, which they did on several occasions.

We struggled at the breakdown and that was always going to happen when you lose both brownie and bam at the same time. However I don't think that the interpretation at the breakdown was applied as stringently as it has been in most games this season.

The positives from the game IMHO were that we played more attacking penalty options rather than just kicking it. By going for tries it gave the backs the opportunity to try and test out combinations from the set piece, which will help the players gain more confidence in themselves and each other.

All the stats were pretty even bar the missed tackles. 16-8 against

Almost half the the times we missed tackle they scored.

Was most impressed with Inman impressive debut, Sare had a fantastic work rate and both Dunning and Sheenan brought some mongrel to proceedings.
Sharpie led from the front and JOC defensive/ tackling / kicking was fantastic - MOM was Hodgson - he was simply everywhere.

Backline was a 200% improvement on last week - there're stepping up - guessing there will be quite a bit of tackling practice this week - Josh needs to go in a lot lower etc..

Our backline actually got 2 hard won well constructed tries - and the soft one at the end.

    Squirell

What a great effort by the Force this week and my didnt Pek play well. Must have been not having to cope with his hair getting in his face (looking good). Also great to see all the new boys getting a go. Must say Ryan T, gave 120% once he had his chance, go the Rocky bogan!!!!!

This game could have been a bloodbath,we showed much more endevour in attack today, the defensive lapses were exploited by the Cannes as a good side will do

Lost cause of the week. DHP on his pat, trying to stop Tialata on the goal line.

To be fair shasta, until Sharpey hit them from the side he was pretty close to holding him up. Sharpey changed all the angles and then the ball slid through.
A great match by both players though.
