Can someone please try and justify Samo's selection to me? I bet you can't do it

OK, here goes:

• While he is 36 years old, this simply show the vast experience he has playing at very high levels,
• He can play 6,7 or 8 and even 11/14, indicating his marvellous versatility,
• He has had a fair bit of rest during the most recent Super Rugby and international season, meaning he is pretty fresh in comparison with others under consideration,
• Benny Mac and Cliffy are injured and weren't considered.
• He is instantly recognisable by commentators and spectators, thus removing the "who's he?" factor,
• He has "trained exceptionally hard in recent months " and has been quoted as saying "I felt like the last three or four games I was back up there. I had to work hard and that's what I did and got back there ... but I still have a long way to go", so that's nice,
• Dingo rates him very highly,
• ...... that's all I've got.

So long as he's fit, I don't have many qualms about him being there. Hell, for all the use our 12s are at distribution and field position, I'd play him in McCabe's spot. That might have SBW looking for options.

Benny Mac im pretty sure suited up for university last round. As far as versatilty goes, him and Mowen are pretty versatile as well.
