The annual assault on my credit card has begun
The Bean Counter bit of me says a PS2 for 199 is looking like a winner
The playgroup moms are telling me that PS3 is the thing of the future
The children are telling me that the Wii is more interactive
Geeks tell me what I need to know - school holidays loom - what will keep em away from me![]()

Maybe this will help you decide:
I'm not a "gamer" so would probably go for a Wii as it looks more fun (and I don;t just mean in the above clip) and would be the one I'd get.
If your kids want a Wii - I reckon thats the one to get.
sorry mate can't get past the video - it really puts me off !
Why is Wii better - the games seem more expensive

As I said - I'm not a gamer, so really couldn't say. I think it is more a matter of them being different rather than better.
You should probably get the dad's input too - he'll likely spend as much time playing as the kids
"Rugby" is only available on the PS2 / PS3 I believe (and other platforms, but not Wii)
g Direct from my 12 year old son no matter what age your kids are get an XBox360.... but since that wasn't an option, if your kids are 12 or older get a PS3...if your kids are younger get the Wii....
we have a PS2, XBox and XBox 360... He also said he'd give you a good deal on his PS2 with games including Rugby 2006 for you and dad & DDR for the girls
The Wii is more interactive...for example if you are playing tennis you would swing your hand just as if you had a racquet in your hand. The other games you just use a controller.
Rugby not on PS3 last title was Rugby 08 and was only released on PS2, and you cant play PS2 games on PS3 due to the new blue ray discs used for PS3. Nintendo had always been more targeted at the younger age group (or young at heart if you want) with games like Super Mario etc, but some of games like Mario Party 8 are great to. I have an X-Box 360, PS3 and a Wii and i enjoy all 3 of them. If you want a huge range of games though you could go a PS2 as theres a nice range of games (including Rugby 08), range of games isnt as good on PS3 yet as it's only been in stores since March. If your more into shoot em up kinda games (eg Medal of Honour series) i'd say PS3 or X-Box 360.
If you do buy any of the next generation consoles (360, PS3, Nintendo Wii) go to your local Gametraders as they have a few good deals going at the moment on all 3 of them.
X-Box 360 for $600 including game of your choice (I reccomend Halo 3) RRP of $700 and you can get an extra hand controller for another $60
PS3 for $900 (while that sounds steep) you get 2 games of your choice, a blue ray DVD, PS3 stand and dvd remote (all up would cost you probably about $1100), extra hand controller for $50
Nintendo Wii for about $480 including 2 remote hand controllers, 2 remote "nunchucks" and Wii Sports
Rugby 08 could be on X-Box 360 i think as well
My brother and i have a PS2 and Wii....i would say the PS2 is better for gaming but the Wii is a lot more fun because you get to move around and act like an idiot...my bro and i have had some epic tennis matches hahaand you can also get a standard gaming controller for Wii as well if the kiddies don't want to jump around.
We actually got the Wii for free because my Mum went on a $19 a month phone plan from a 3 dealer.....so we were like sweet!!![]()
I bought my PS3 because their was some game title comming out early next year that i really wanted (Resident Evil 5 and Grand Theft Auto IV) but they have been delayedbut the games i have for it are throughly entertaining (Resistance: fall of man, WWE Raw vs Smackdown 2008 and The Simpsons game)
So in synopsis:
Option A - involves reruns of the RWC until the Wallabies beat england
Option B - involves the kids accidentally thumping each other to death - or anything else in swinging distance
Both A&B involve spending the next year getting nagged for the other system (according to Larry I can lose 10,000,000 in 5 mins)
so far the only thing I'm getting enthusiastic about is a night out with Skizza's Mom - I take my hat off to anyone who get one of these things for $9

where as i paid $2000 for all three of them (i got a PS2 for xmas many years ago)
Nothing much to add, in my opinion, it's all about age.
Below about 11 go for Wii
11 - say 15 Xbox 360
14 and up PS3
Wii is probably the most universal for my money (the whole jumping around like a fool thing lasts a surprisingly long time) but the game play doesn't translate to all game types,so if you're feeding a hardcore FPS gamer, a Wii isn't the option you want.
PS3 is probably the lease universal at the moment, with limited game titles available at the moment, but that'll change.
C'mon the![]()

ps3 is the best. (they are $680 now)
wii is ok but it gets boring after about 10/20 minutes.
xbox360 is great and its new games are good.
GIGST is right use his post as a guide.
Many thanks - the kids will appreciate it - and I do too
