That's just the reality of our sporting reserves in Perth. Not that many have large embankments, even fewer home to Rugby clubs. Even our WAFL grounds weren't built to the same levels as those in VFL and even SANFL. The former had far more extensive sealed terracing while only Freo Oval and Subiaco had that in Perth, the rest all grass banks on the outer. The local Soccer clubs have some more permanent looking facilities but they have often doubled as ethnic community centres. All that may be out of the reach of our clubs. It would be nice to have a new premier field in the AK Reserve precinct with small grandstand and function/bar facilities to replace what was lost at Perry Lakes. It would easily fit in the bushland imminently south of the Bendat Basketball Centre, north of the McGillgray Oval.
The reality is that Rugby clubs in the Shute Shield mostly play on Cricket grounds that are shared with Rugby in the Winter. No surprise what sport uses the Cricket grounds in the Perth winter.
There would have to be some agreement if there was a ground share. The rent might be high. The Spirit played on a Cricket ground in Adelaide that is used for Aussie Rules in the Winter. The Rising done the same with Frankston Oval. They tried to use Bob Jane Stadium which is the home ground of the South Melbourne Hellas however the ingoals were too close the fence.

Just got a reply from the Tahs a gutless one at that.
Hi,
Thank you for your email and for taking the time to share your views. We apologise for the delay in responding.
To address your query regarding leadership, at NSW Rugby and the NSW Waratahs, we have gone through a restructure of our two organisations and 12 months ago decided that it was best to bring the two together and operate as one for the benefit of the game in our State.
In reference to the leadership of Rugby Australia (formerly the ARU), the organisation recently confirmed the new CEO and it will be her responsibility to determine what’s best for Rugby Australia and its Board, including the Chairman. NSW Waratahs and NSW Rugby is a separate, independent entity and while we are not ultimately responsible for the appointment of the leadership of Rugby Australia, we, along with all other Super Rugby franchises, do push to influence their decisions wherever possible for the greater interests of the game. We are committed to working together with Rugby Australia for the betterment of the game.
The fact that you have taken the time to write to us suggests that you also love and care about the game, and particularly community rugby, which is at the heart of our game. NSW Rugby and the NSW Waratahs contributed $1.16-million to help grow the game in the State this year, and we want to do more.
Regarding your reference to the salary cap, the NSW Waratahs are satisfied with the squad we have assembled for the 2018 season. We have said all along that we consider ourselves to be financially responsible and will remain within the Super Rugby salary cap.
The levy you are referring to is an extra fee per player and to be implemented in 2018. We have consulted with, and presented to, our affiliates the reasons for this increase, which include a tough financial year for a variety of reasons. These include a reduction in funding from Rugby Australia, weather (impacting crowd attendance at Waratahs games), Waratahs performance and the general sentiment around the sport.
However, NSW Rugby and the NSW Waratahs have taken measures to reduce the loss we are expected to record for the financial year, including staying within the salary cap and reducing team support staff costs (eg Daryl Gibson will be the Head Coach and Defence Coach in 2018) and in some instances not replacing the organisation’s administration staff.
We also recently announced the relocation of our team training and office base from Allianz Stadium to the University of NSW to be closer to the community and provide our members and supporters with easy access to the team. The relocation will also bring a reduction in administration cost. While the organisation has taken steps to reduce costs, we will still record a shortfall and the additional $2 fee per person in 2018 will assist with the continuation of rugby services to all our regions in NSW.
Once again, thank you for your email, we appreciate your comments and feedback.
Kind regards,
'I may be a Senator but I am not stupid'

If they think it’s the weather that affects attendance at Tahs games, they are dumber than I thought!
Proudly Western Australian; Proudly supporting Western Australian rugby
It's a typical modern day excuse however the SFS is a stadium that was built in tough economic times. It is only come to light to me anyway don't know about everyone else at how it was built with such low safety standards and poor facilities for female patrons. The disabled access is atrocious. The basics are so bad that they are having to knock down a stadium that is 30 years old to improve it. Typical Sydney can't organise a piss up in a brewery.
That's why I wrote the same very email to the NSWRU who I haven't heard back from yet. They along with the QRU have the voting power to get rid of the Chairman. In all my years following Australian Rugby I have never seen that governing body as bad as it can be have such a meddlesome Chairman. Most national unions you don't even know who the Chairman is and that is the way it should be.In reference to the leadership of Rugby Australia (formerly the ARU), the organisation recently confirmed the new CEO and it will be her responsibility to determine what’s best for Rugby Australia and its Board, including the Chairman.
Just tried to write that email I said I was going to write to the NZRU about not using their right to veto in 2010 and 2015 to stop the ARU from continuing on with the Rebels in the competition. They had two opportunities to tell the RA that is not going to work. The contact form doesn't allow many characters, anyone who is in contact with Wayne Smith should ask him to contact them to ask those questions. They had the right to veto to stop this before it got started and are continually sitting in silence while their opposition implode or look for options elsewhere to play professional Rugby.
