I reckon last night was a great spectacle. All the Corporate boxes were full. And thats where the real money is. I heard lots of comments from obvious first timers to the ground of "how good is this?". Its a bigger crowd than Qld got for an Argi test.
Next year the tickets will be like hens teeth as the Boks scramble to see a piece of the action.
And last night even it felt like the Rio handing over to Tokyo at the Olympics with Pete Van Zyl making a guest appearance to test out the ground in the final minute.
ARU missed a trick by not paying for tickets for a couple of pearls to do a lap around the ground with some gold around their necks.
Generally speaking you aren’t learning much if your lips are moving!!!
Great Atmosphere and game. The ARU can't complain about not selling out Nib playing the Argies when they can't do it in Sydney and Brisbane playing the Boks and Blacks.
ARU sent out a survey email today. I've just done mine.
"12 Years a Supporter" starring the #SeaOfBlue
Good game to watch, i was disappointed with being in block 225 since i did the early bird offer through force but seeing 3 tries within 12min changed my mind quickly.
The only reak thing that irked me, im trying to introduce the game of rugby to others and western force members had access to cornerpost but werent allowed to bring a guest along (wasn't packed) but luckily thanks to the force tent who happily handed my mate a wristband to gain access. He commented the more he has been watching the game the greater understanding he is getting, the more he is enjoying. I may have a convert just yet...
The Australian
Does anyone actually read subscription only news sites anymore?
Dont forget Melbourne hosted a much more highly publicized match vs England and got a similar size crowd in a similar sized stadium. Also the last test Canberra hosted only got 14-15000. At the end of the day not one of the test matches played any where in Australia this year sold out. The ARU missed a massive opportunity off the back of the World Cup to really promote the Wallabies matches. Even the promotion of Super Rugby and the NRC has been abysmal. Maybe we should launch a coup against the ARU ala that Richmond mob in the AFL.
The ARU did us over sending a test match vs Argentina when they know dam well we have large Saffa, Kiwi and British ex pat populations. Give us a Bledisloe test at the new 60 000 seat stadium, i bet that would nearly sell out.
