Bill Pulver, the father of collar bomb victim Madeline, is expected to be named the new CEO of the Australian Rugby Union on Wednesday afternoon.
Pulver, a multi-millionaire Sydney businessman, is believed to have been lined up to succeed long-time ARU boss John O’Neill.
The Pulvers dominated headlines in 2011 when Madeline was the victim of a collar bomb hoax at the family’s Mosman home. Madeline’s attacker, Paul Douglas Peters, was sentenced to a minimum of 10 years in jail last November.
Bill Pulver has previously resided in New York where he was chief executive of global research firm NetRatings. The company was taken over by Nielsen in 2007 at a reported cost of $820 million.
Bill Pulver’s share options in NetRatings is understood to have made him a multi-millionaire.
Pulver’s anticipated arrival comes at a critical time for rugby in Australia. The mid-year British and Irish Lions tour is seen as an opportunity to revive the game’s fortunes after an underwhelming 2012 at international and domestic level.

Oh dear
Yes; too soon. Still funny but.
But why does he need to be referred to as someone's dad? I am fairly confident that he got the gig on other merits and that his daughter's experience didn't even get a passing mention in his interview.
UPDATE: on the ARU website "Mr Pulver is married with four children" That's more like it.
here's hoping he holds... no .. too soon![]()

Fine, I'll go there.
There was a post on whirlpool, mentioning a "joke" (which I didn't find) on a GAGR article, saying that "according to <some source>, he would like for people to think after his tenure that 'That guy was THE BOMB at the ARU' ".
