The age thing would impact less on the tight five than the others, so 4 of the 7 would stand a better chance of making it.
But I also agree, I'd rather be supporting the team on an upswing two years out than the team at it's peak with an old playing group.
If Oz doesn't hit it's straps now, we're not ACTUALLY on the upswing, but you know what I mean!

All that said though, the Wallabies came close to backing up in 2003, as did the Poms in 2007. I wouldn't be ruling SA out by any means, but I am hopeful that the ABs will do the necessary in the semis.
One thing - WALES actually holds the Melrose Cup, not South Africa.
They should get that trophy off there then!
Actually - when starting it I had ideallisticly hoped for a Force/WA Rugby website - with respect paid to all internationals teams as the Force supporter base would be made up of folk from all nations. But then Luke the Pom registered and it all went downhill from there. So Force then WA (interchangeable order) then Wallabies then Southern Hemisphere, then A.B.E. is my current standing.
Whatever way you look at it - to have those 6 trophies in the cabinet can't be a fluke and deserves praise where praise is due. So, priase the first post if you believe this also - and then bag 'em all you want![]()
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Personally I see the current Boks as a very successful team but not a very good team. May be a contradiction to some but remember their success this year has come at the defeat of two ordinary rebuilding opponents and a fortunate winning series against the Lions, decided by a dodgy Ref in game 1 re srums.
History will view them well but the reality is that they really aren't that good and and will struggle to maintain their dominance for another two seasons.
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
Thankfully they can't win the Bledisloe Cup...
a pity we can't either....
im glad im not alone in my thinking![]()
You definitely have to give the Boks a lot of credit, it would be a bit insulting if you didn't. Here is the but though... for all that they have been brilliant this year and how we've all read in the media that they've been getting better and better since 2007 the reality was last year was pretty awful for the Boks. A home loss to both Australia and New Zealand (And as I recall the home loss to the ABs was 19-0) leaving them with 2 wins in the Tri-nations which realistically is where Australia and New Zealand could sit after today's game. Sure there was a very successful European tour afterwards with a demolition of England but these days thats nothing special.
So the way I figure it they have to back it up next year to really affirm the legendary status they have been attributed to take away that question mark over 2008.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
This is true Jargs, but only in the same way South Africa is part of Africa....

The fact that South Africa hasn't won the ladies comp is puzzling- given their ladies' dominance in running...
