About Greg Growden
Greg Growden has been the Chief Rugby Correspondent for the The Sydney Morning Herald since 1987. He started writing about rugby union in 1981, and in more than 25 years has reported on more than 200 test matches and covered countless Wallaby tours. He has chronicled the big changes in rugby: The birth of the World Cup, the turn to professionalism, the rise of the Super 14 and Tri-Nations tournaments and the return of South Africa to the international fold. France 2007 will be Growden's sixth World Cup.

They left out the last bit, but it's ok as I have obtained it through a high-ranking ARU official.

Greg now believes the rugby world owes him for simply putting events that have happened into words. The lack of gratitude for this public service has made him bitter and twisted. He makes up for the idea that his columns have largely become a joke by making up stories and quoting non-existant officials. These days, Greg can be found using his position within SMH to push his own agendas, many of which are made simply for shock value. On slow news days, Greg will often post up a story about the Force's latest scandel, or how good Kurtley Beale is. He even once wrote a piece about the pies at Telstradome, without once mentioning that a game had in fact been played there that night.

He has been digging his own grave for several years now, many of his peers believe he will find China soon.
