Size wise he's way bigger than most of the skinny little punters out there. Except for the Steelers new rookie punter. Here's a clip of him whem he was in college. You simply don't see punters hit people.

Savs first punt of the game only went 33 yards which sucks. A big part of punting is pinning the other team down inside the 10 yard line. If he does that well he'll win the job, if he doesn't he'll end up getting cut.

Yes he did, I remember his rookie year he leveled some dude. He was named to several pro bowls and made punter of the 90's evn though he didn't play until the second half of the decade.

I believe he was from WA, met some hot american bitch and moved to California and just walked onto the Chargers and made the team. Just goes to show that anything can happen
if you have a hot american wife.

FYI: What made the hit illegal was hitting "helmet to helmet". The refs didn't call that but they did call a pentalty on his teammate who came in after the hit to stick up for Sav.

    Game 2 the battle continues

Rocca had a very good game. It looks like he has a slight edge in the battle against Johnson to win the job. His punting has been a little better than Johnson who is coming off a below average season. As long as he does well holding for the field goal kicker I think he's going to win the job. There are 2 more pre season games to go.

Sav Rocca, the 33-year-old former Australian Rules Football player, continued to build his case as a threat to unseat incumbent punter Dirk Johnson. Given the opportunity to kick first in the game, Rocca started with a 58-punt, then pooched a 35-yarder to Carolina's 4, and hit a 57-yarder that went for a touchback. He also was the holder for Akers' four successful kicks in the first half.

But Johnson made a good accounting of himself in the second half when he punted three times for a 40.3-yard average, including a 51-yarder. Johnson also was the holder for a successful 51-yard field goal by Akers.

Falling at the final hurdle hey.....name any VFL/AFL team to have won four (4) premierships in a row???

Clue - There is only one and they wear black and white.

Sure The Pies may fall short sometimes, but to fall at the final hurdle, you first have to make the race. Again I'm pretty sure that same team from the above question holds the record for appearances in the "final race"

The records still stand and we have the material (flags) and silverware (cups)to prove it!

Brisbane came close in recent years.....they were far from a Foundation Member...............

brisbane probably claim all the records from fitzroy who they merged with. Collingwoods last premiership 1990??? (i think)

4 in a row doesnt compare with St George's record of 11 straight premierships in the rugby league in the 50's and 60's :p

getting back on topic, i'll gow tih faling at the final hurdle, brisbane were favourites in both grand finals they played collingwood in (red hot favourites in 2003 i think)
