Bumper day of rugby at Ballymore on Sunday

A Schoolboy Test match and the first Ballymore match in the new Mazda Australian Rugby Championship (MARC) are the two headline games in a blockbuster day of rugby action at QRU headquarters this Sunday.

Entertainment for the kids, an autograph signing session in the Wilson HTM tent and a revival of the famous "Ballymore boot parties" will be part of the picnic atmosphere.

Inside the stadium gates remains a licensed area but small groups of friends and families picnicking around their cars is being encouraged.

The Suncorp Australian Schoolboys will take on England Schools in the curtain raiser to the Mazda Cup Round Two match between the Wilson HTM Ballymore Tornadoes and the Sydney Fleet.

England Schools will be out to avenge their 24-12 defeat on home soil in 2005 when they meet their Australian counterparts at 2:15pm, ahead of the Tornadoes-Fleet match at 4pm.

There will also be Under 8 junior matches at halftime in the Mazda Cup game.

Adults $20, $10 Conc, $5 Junior (aged 3-15 years).

Up to two children 15 and under free with each paying adult.

MARC season passes can be purchased at the gates for just $65, with the same kids-free offer.

On site parking is $10, or $20 for the MARC season when purchased from the QRU before this Friday along with a season membership.

Parking restrictions will be in force in surrounding streets but shuttle buses will operate from Royal Brisbane Hospital carpark and from various points in the city (Depart Eagle St, opposite Pier One, Creek St, left Adelaide Street (pick up at Stop 42A), right George St, Roma St (pick up outside Police HQ) leaving every 15 minutes from 1:30pm onwards.

Gates open at 12:30pm.

There will also be a morning session of rugby with the final games in the Ballymore Cup competition for schools - the Spirit of Rugby Plate and the Division 1 and 2 finals, starting at 9am and finishing around midday.

The state's largest school Rugby competition, the Ballymore Cup provides an opportunity for schools who win their respective regional championships to test themselves against other regional champions from across the state.
