All Black proves Cup fitness

VETERAN prop Greg Somerville has been named as the 30th player in the New Zealand squad for next month's World Cup in France.

Somerville, who was given three extra weeks to prove his fitness, has had to do so on two fronts, with the Canterbury prop only recently completing a long recovery from an Achilles tendon ruptured nearly a year ago.

A 55-Test veteran, Somerville hasn't played since last month's first round of the national championship, recovering from a displaced retina caused by a poke in the eye.
