NSW Rugby Releases Mazda Australian Rugby Championship Squads
The official Mazda Australian Rugby Championship squads have been confirmed for the Imagetec Central Coast Rays, Sydney Fleet and Western Sydney Rams.
“Where possible the players have been enlisted from their aligned clubs but occasionally there will be crossovers,” said Fraser Neill, NSWRU Chief Executive Officer.
“The Beale and Norton-Knight situation is a good example. The sensible decision was made to place Kurtley with the Rams and Sam with the Rays,”
“There are a few other examples too all in the effort to ensure the best players are playing every week.
“The sides are well balanced with Super 14 players going head to head for starting positions with the Waratahs and club players now playing for contracts at the next level.
“It’s also encouraging to see players returning from overseas to boost the competition,” added Mr Neill.
“Now that the teams are released I’d expect many people to start forging their allegiance by region or favourite player.”

61 years between Grand SlamsWas the wait worth it - Ya betta baby
any news on the spirit squad?
<>
No mate - there are 3 squads missing still- don't know if they are waiting on possible Wallaby call ups or what - currently I like the look of the Rams

There's more than a couple of ex Force players in those squads
and a few future ones too perhaps![]()
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Mr X said he didn't see the ARC lasting more than two years. I hope he is wrong!!!! I can only see good coming from this, what a great way for club players to get recognised and maybe move to the top level.
Just happy to be here
Reasons I'm looking forward to the ARC
1:The new laws being showcased a lot of work has gone into these new laws and it supposed to give a faster game with less penalties
2:Watching new/young players develop for the
3:Up close and personal in ME Stadium
4:The unpredictable nature of the competition - nobody has any idea about which teams are likely to shine - could be payback time TG![]()
5:The unpredictable nature of the team combinations (short comp but the first couple of games the combos won't work right - but they will develop)
6:Matt Henjak as captain - have a sneaking suspicion that he will do a really good job of it and shock a few pundits
7: Something to get excited about while the Wallabies play fiji in the pool games - yawn - been there seen that![]()

An early book for the champion will be up this weekend.....
I don't think its unreasonable to say the Force will make the final (at least). We have too many experienced S14 players (plus experienced playing together) and depth in all positions bar hooker and scrum-half. It would be hard to screw that up.Originally Posted by Thequeerone
Agreed - the Spirit does seem to have an advantage when compared to the Rebels or the Aces - however our back line has been decimated by Wallaby Selection (no Mitchell or Cross or Staniforth or Gitts and possibly no Pely either) - with the wonderful forwards combination - even allowing for Sharpie's unfortunate absence we should win ball - converting it to points may be challenging in the first couple of weeks - guessing Hardy and AJ will have to give the others some lessonsOriginally Posted by James

Imagine this scenario though - the first real trophy in the cabinet belonging to the Spirit - would set us up very nicely for the S14 season.

I see a backline of:
10- Hilgendorf
11- Cummins (presumably playing)
12- Mackay
13- Pelesasa/Cross (They wouldn't take both)
14- Sare
15- Shepherd (very sadly I think he's missed the window)
Being pretty effective. I don't know though injuries wise it might go badly.
I see where your coming from James, but I would suggest that if we had Cross, we'd be playing Pelesasa on the wing.Originally Posted by James
Cummins is a big boy and all but he going to lowered gentle into the team. I would suggest that he would fight with Zander Peden for the last spot on the bench. I would assume if Scott Daruda is still with us he would join Jon McGrath as the other back reserve. If not James Stannard would be the 10/12/15 reserve.
Sad to think that no local WA boy's still won't get a look in for the starting 22 though.
Brother Gallagher I hear you
Except that McGrath is playing for Melbourne.
Perth Gold halfback gets a look in ? Curtis McClean
Jak will be needing a suitable understudy any other suggestions/ideas - is it time for another book
2 squads left to be announced - Perth Spirit and the Tornados
2007 Navy Canberra Vikings squad added to the first post - expected the Vikings to look stronger on paper

Thats a pretty handy Squad for Canberra which, as for Perth, is a reflection of under representation in the RWC Squad.
Pretty impressive scrum of probably:
1. Nic Henderson
2. Saia Faingaa
3. John Ulugia
4. Alister Campbell
5. Adam Wallace-Harrison
6. ???
7. Julian Salvi
8. Jone Tawake
