French try out new bonus point system

The Top 14 and Pro D2 will trial a new bonus point system next season, designed to prevent losing teams from picking up two bonus points in the same match.

Instead of the usual attacking bonus point for four tries, teams will get a bonus point by winning by three tries or more, so three or more tries to nil, four or more tries to one, etc.

Thus losing teams will still get their defensive bonus point for losing by fewer than seven points, but will not now be able to pick up two points in defeat for both losing by fewer than seven AND scoring four tries, as was previously possible.

will have to see how this works out.
I always liked the idea of a 'losing team' getting bonus points for attacking the line. It has lead to several upsets in the Super 12/14 ladders over the years.
