    Thumbs down Wallabies, Impressive.....NOT

I was wondering what other TWFers thought of the mediocre preformance last night that was the Wallabies...
As you can probably guess i thought we were absolutely woeful, and feel disappointed we won against a 3rd grade welsh team...We deserved to lose we were that bad...Some of the players out there would have looked out of place in Perth grade competitions....I have to say i hope they are a different outfit next game...
    What do you reckon????

I thought we always looked like winning but suffered from 1st game rustiness and poor execution by Huxley and Norton Knight (Connoly probably wanted to execute them too).

Interesting was that even tho Drew Mitchell had 11 on his back he seemed to perform and do the job of 15 and I thought did well....Sharpie had a blinder...and seemed to be doing mare talking to the crew then Waugh

    1) name a CAPTAIN not a co-captain -SHARPE(C)
    2) Drop HYPHEN AND ADAM WALLACE HARRISON. repalced by GITS AND SPANNER
    3) GREGAN into half
    4) GET THE BACKS TO RUN ON WITH SPEED!!!!!

Sharpie was a shining light in an otherwise dull performance...

the weakest australian backline in years, forget about gits at 9 play him at 12, sam norton knight, huxley, and cooper all had questionable games but at least that was slightly better than mark gerrard who had no game at all. has connolly made the right choice with his hooker selections leaving paul & mcissac out , on a positive note larkham, gregan, shepherd, tuqiri should return to the starting line up before the tri-nations

Well, it seemed all game that they should have been winning, but they just weren't using the ball. And so many handling errors That aside, was happy with Sharpie, Giteau (damn, that guy is fast), Mortlock (sickening to watch him reeling about with blood all over, though!), and Palu, and I do think Huxley will get better - even he had his moments.
The Welsh must feel like they've had their hearts ripped out.

Weak! I had my head in my hands for most of the game. Gits certainly troubled them with the darting runs from half and would probably make a reasonable fist of the position, but I can't imagine there isn't someone in Oz who can't come close to that, so we can get rid of double-barrel and replace him with a world class centre. I also don't think Matt will get that much room agains an international team!

I'm gunna stop betting onthe Wallabies, I need to clear some debt

norton-knight cant pass left, huxley looked out of place, drew mitchells kicking was below par and i didnt even know ashley-cooper was playing til the 2nd half! and the most worrying thing, no-one in the backs looked dangerous at all (cept gits and gregan when he came on)

at least we know the backline for the first tri nations test will be different...hopefully

    9 Gregan
    10 Larkham
    11 Tuqiri
    12 Giteau
    13 Mortlock
    14 Gerrard
    15 Shepherd

20 Cordingly (apparently had a very good game for Aus A)
    21 Staniforth
    22 Mitchell

now that looks like a much more dangerous backline, if they put it all together..you thinks?

Cordingly was ok in Aus A game - he missed a few breakdowns and that cost a least 1 try - was annoyed that nobody else in the team stepped into the breach for him (still reckon Yak is the best option at Aus A level) - to be fair to Cordingly he got better as the game wore on

Was disappointed Stanners didn't get a run last night - it would have been brilliant to see how he would have fared given the chance.

Sharpie would make a more plausible captain and certainly seemed to be on fire last night - he started talking when Waugh went off and the team seemed to hang together better for it - also he is 1 of the very few 90 minute Wallabies on the side at the moment - you have also got to think that his experience with the Force (through thick and thin ) would count for something as well !

On the plus side last night the line outs were excellent and the scrums quite respectable

The only problem is the backs
    a: backup / depth for 9,10,12
b: the backs playing together properly / knowing each others game

to much hard won front row procession was squandered last night
