Ireland Play Argetina this weekend in Sth America

Ireland hand league convert Carney first cap

BUENOS AIRES, May 22 (Reuters) - Rugby league convert Brian Carney will win his first cap when Ireland face Argentina in the first test in Santa Fe on Saturday.
Carney, a 30-year-old who changed codes this year and is the only uncapped player in a second-string Ireland side, will play on the right wing in the match at the Colon soccer ground in Santa Fe, 478 km (297 miles) north of Buenos Aires.
Ireland and Argentina, who meet in the second test in Buenos Aires on June 2 and in a key World Cup Group D match in Paris on Sept. 30, are without a number of leading players being rested or still committed to their clubs.
"This tour is about allowing players to challenge for the World Cup squad and it starts this weekend in the first test against Argentina," coach Eddie O'Sullivan said.
"Players have to put their hands up over the next two weeks to put their case forward," he was quoted as saying on the Irish union Web site (www.irishrugby.ie).
"Now, that might put pressure on players, but there is no more pressurised an environment then international rugby and the World Cup, so this will be a good test for them."
Argentina are expected to name their team later in the week.
The match will be refereed by New Zealander Lyndon Bray.
    Ireland team: 15-Gavan Duffy; 14-Brian Carney, 13-Andrew Trimble, 12-Kieran Lewis, 11-Tommy Bowe; 10-Paddy Wallace, 9-Isaac Boss; 8-Jamie Heaslip, 7-Keith Gleeson, 6-Neil Best, 5-Malcolm O'Kelly, 4-Trevor Hogan, 3-Simon Best (captain), 2-Jerry Flannery, 1-Bryan Young
    Replacements: 16-Bernard Jackman, 17-Tony Buckley, 18-Mick O'Driscoll, 19-Stephen Ferris, 20-Tomas O'Leary, 21-Geordan Murphy, 22-Barry Murphy.

This should be a cracker of a match and I reckon Argentina command a greater "Home Ground advantage" than any other Nation.
If they have their full Squad then they should be favourites going in.
Hey Gerry, any books on these other Tests?

Argentina is the Nemesis of Ireland - normally Arg gets knocked out by Ire at the quarters and then Ire gets knocked out by NZ or some other obscure nation - Eddie Sullivan is a canny fox though he's not sending out a full strength squad but it will be a corker of a match
