This report from The Sydney Morning Herlad indicates that Wallabies gaffer John Connolly says he also won't rule out playing Giteau at half-back or inside centre.
"We will look at both [half-back] options. Giteau will get a run [there] at some stage. He will also get a run in the centres at some stage.
If we go one way in the first Test, we may go a different way in the second or third. We'll look at both options. But we have to look at [inside-centre] as well."
I, for one, watched Git's try in #9 on the spring tour. He was not international standard half-back. He had no pass to the left - he constantly turns, moves the ball to the left of his body and then executes a 'right' pass.
Can't believe Connoly is still insisting at trying him at #9. Then Why on earth did he waste positions in selecting 3 half-backs from the Tahs ? or an unfit Cordingly?
It seems like he has a bee in his bonnet about #9 spot and nothing, not even performace standards, will sway him from his course. This RWC is starting to feel like an unmitigated disaster to some rugby fans !
Why would he persists ?
