    Greatest Dual Internationals

I was just reading another forum where there was a thread congratulating Brad Thorne on returning to good form for the Brisbane Broncos this year after some ordinary form last year when returning from the All Blacks.

I know he fulfilled hid boyhood dream by making the AB's but for mine he was always a 50/50 selection at best. Still a fantastic achievement though.

As happens the thread wandered a bit and eventually ended up arguing whether Daniel Carter would be a star at RL, as good as Joey.

Got me to thinking how few players there have been to cross codes and really prove to be champion players at both. I can remember as far back as Dick Thornett and remember my Dad talking about Rex Mossop. I heard Dally Messenger was OK too. Russell Fairfax & Ray Price are up there. But I wouldn't rate Ricky Stewart or Mick O'Conner as a champion at both. For mine the one that sticks out was the first, AFAIK, to be a champion at both codes and then cross back and captain the national team at his first code.

    Any thoughths?

    Err No.

They haven't finished yet, but not so far.

I wouldn't even have Tuquiri in this years Wallabies. Rogers ( starting ti find form for the Titans ) would be though.

Let's say the past 20 years then.

Jason Robinson definately but do you reckon Andrew Walker was an outstanding League player? He's probably the only one to go from league to union then back to league and again back to union tho, and maybe he's not done yet. I think he beats Iestyn Harris by one

The one I rate is Jonathan Davies.

Jason Robinson and Iestyn Harris are the only ones I can think of to go from league to union and really make a great fist of it. Harris struggled at first but I dunno what else they expected. They chucked him straight from RL to fly-half for Wales.

Most of the others played RU first.

Jonathan Davies gets my vote. Scott Quinnell also.

From a Scottish perspective, Allan Tait was very successful in both codes.

Look who you're asking... I don't really think anyone is an outstanding league player.

What about Stu Wilson & Brian McKechnie, both of whom played rugby and cricket for N.Z.
