    Crowd figures

A crowd apparently of 8,500 official at last nights game.
I wonder if it would be more uncomfortable in hot weather like last night to sit watching a game at Members Equity or at Subi oval?
Hopefully the hot weather we will probably have over the next couple of months wont have a detrimental effect on the crowd

The crowd figure was revised post match to 9,501 Lock, a pretty handy roll up to a Trial Match I reckon?
The Tahs only mustered up around 13,000 from a far bigger population and a much greater opposition supporter base with the Crusaders.
Come to think of it, 12,000 were probably Australian based Kiwi's
I think we are in for very healthy crowds this year, even if unfortunately many fewer are Members.
Some good results for a mid table finish will see the bandwagoners jump back on for '08.

Would have been 1 more at the game if "she-who-must-be-obeyed" did not have a car crash before the game. 50 metres away from buying a ticket I was when I got the call, totally changed my plans for the evening. Worse thing is she did not even have the grace to be bleeding or need to go to hospital.
at least she did not interfer with the season proper!

Hmmm, no there were quite a few Tahs fans last night and we made lots of noise. Considering that there's lots more things to do in Sydney than Perth, 13,000 was a good turnout for a trial match. :p

Can anyone recall (roughly) what the crowd figures for the very first WA based trial match against the Cheeters in 2006 was?

    Vaguely recall around 15K?

Good for you guys You'd think more would rock up for the first game ever but that's a good turnout.

Just actually did some work for a change and researched my own question. The match in question against the Cheetahs (thought I'd spell it right this time!) we had a crowd of 17,055!

Makes the 9501 a little concerning? or not? Heat, earlier in the year, not the very first game?.....................thoughts?

Now that's a top crowd for a trial match!

Probably blame the heat and the long weekend. I wouldn't be too concerned.

Yeah, under the circumstances I would almost rate the two crowds equal.
Everybody loves the novelty of being able to say they went to the "first" of anything.
It was especially hot yesterday and many younger crew would be saving themselves to get smashed today and tonight instead.
There's a fair question though, should the Force aim to hold an annual "Australia Day" fixture with maybe even an event after on the ground or do you think numbers would drop from the competition from other events?
Could be a great event, family day type thing with a meet the players on the ground etc. Would be a chance to act like real Club House for one night a year.
Any thoughts or do we need another thread for it?

Burgs, I only got that crowd figure from the paper.

WF 2006, you make a interesting point about the Cheetahs practice game.
Maybe there were more of the "curious" supporters there that night.
Maybe those "curious" supporters may not be around this year!
    We'll have to wait.
And we have an extra home game this year as well, so morethe reason to have a good following I would think, but it doesnt always work out like that.

Oh, i thought you meant meet the players thing on Aussie day! Yes, that would be good on a regular season game night.

Showing Cynism but suspect a win in WA would help with the rent a crowd supporters - didn't Sharpie look happy after the win - roll on the Highlanders
