I don't think the boys would have been out there today to win at all cost, I think Mitch may have had them under orders to not put their body on the line too much. Sounds like Junior had a great game, hopefully he gets some game time during the season.

Every forwards dream is to become a back...
Ok Shaun Haig Sare ?
61 years between Grand SlamsWas the wait worth it - Ya betta baby
Shaun we played the best provincial team in the world tonight. 2nd or 3rd string does'nt matter. They have respect for us, otherwise(2nd year on the trot) why play us? Thanks Mitch.
the punters friend..... stick with me and you will be wearing
Haig Sare will likely be number #22

how many of their All Blacks weren't allowed to play ?Originally Posted by The Lone Hydrangea

Shaun - just with Giteau and Staniforth missing from the team, the team is running on 40%, with them back it will make a huge difference.Originally Posted by Shaun

Remember Crusaders would be looking for revenge on how they played against us during the regular season.
Although pride means they would have been playing hard, I don't think you can read too much into positions from tonight.
It was purely a trial and as much as anything will give Mitch an insight into players out of position in case of injury during a match etc.
The Manu Samoa match will give a far greater indication as to what we will see during the S14.
Troubling to see handling error's mentioned around Ioane again, we cannot afford those type of glitches, I hope he comes up to the standard rapidly.
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
I get the 'respect' angle and the 'its only a trial' comments and that is obviously true but I have to say winning is a habit teams need to get used to experiencing, when a team gets a win they want more and more and that is what I want to see this team doing. These guys are professional's so don't think for one minute they didn't play to win...
beaten yes,
beaten by a better side, well clearly on the day yes,
beaten by a weakened squad, well that's not something Mitch can do much about so what does it matter and what is to be achieved by what might have been.
(Burgs could you pop over to the UASC someone has posted a question on the Force thread that could do with an answer).
Off to bed now to get a sleep before the Toulouse trip tomorrow, plenty of Standing Up going to be happening for those Ulstermen I think![]()
UAFC FT,
anyway, I recall Ulster losing to London Irish in a preseason friendly, and look at where they are now??? nope wait hold on, maybe not,but the point is, wait until the real pressure situations arise, then we'll see the true grit that the Force can bring to the pitch. lookin' forward to the start of the season.
The lads fly into Perth Airport at 12:50pm today (Saturday)
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
