    Dwyer reveals his World XV

Dwyer reveals his World XV 22/11/06

International stars line up for Boks

Bob Dwyer on Wednesday confirmed his World XV squad for the clash with South Africa at the Walkers Stadium on December 3.

The team includes a host of international stars.

Gareth Cooper (Wales), Scott Staniforth (Australia), Simon Shaw (England) and Jonny O'Connor (Ireland) are among several additions to the 22-man squad which boasts over 500 international caps.

Southern hemisphere internationals Justin Marshall (New Zealand), Ben Tune (Australia) and Cobus Visagie (South Africa) will also be involved in what is sure to be an exciting spectacle.

The Springboks celebrate 100 years of rugby tours and, fittingly, one of their original tourists will be represented by an international rugby descendant.

Worcester's Springbok fullback Thinus Delport, who played against Leicester Tigers at Welford Road earlier this month, is the great-great nephew of Anton Stegman, who was a member of the Springboks' first-ever touring team in 1906 - a tour which featured an historic match against the Midlands in Leicester.

    World XV squad:

Backs: Justin Marshall (Ospreys, New Zealand, 81 caps), Gareth Cooper (Newport Gwent Dragons, Wales, 32), Thomas Castaignede (Saracens, France, 52), Andy Farrell (Saracens, (Great Britain/England Rugby League), Ben Tune (Queensland Reds, Australia, 46), Ryan Cross (Western Force, Australia Rugby League), Gomez Cora (Lomas Athletic (URBA, Argentina, 4), Scott Staniforth (Western Force, Australia, 5), Gaffie du Toit (Cheetahs, South Africa, 14), Thinus Delport (Worcester Warriors, South Africa, 18).

Forwards: Nic Henderson (ACT Brumbies, Australia, 3 caps), Dave Hewett (Edinburgh Gunners, Scotland, 22), Cobus Visagie (Saracens, South Africa, 29), Vernet Basualdo (Asociacion Alumni, Argentina, 3), Fabio Ongaro (Saracens, Italy, 44), Simon Shaw (London Wasps, England, 28), Alister Campbell (ACT Brumbies, Australia, 3), Michael Owen (Newport Gwent Dragons, Wales, 34), David Croft (Queensland Reds, Australia, 5), Jonny O'Connor (London Wasps, Ireland, 12), Takuro Miuchi (NEC Rockets, Japan, 30), Lawrence Dallaglio (captain - London Wasps, England, 77).

    Total number of caps: 542

    Coach: Bob Dwyer
    Assistant coach: Bryan Redpath
