Education is Important, but Rugby is Importanter!
James O'Connor in a Crusaders jersey is weird.
Both Friday night games are well worth watching.

"I don’t know where you’re at in your life or what you’re going through, but I wanna tell you to keep going, baby. I wanna tell you success is on the other side of it.
I wanna tell you it’s gonna be okay. I wanna tell you that the windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror for a reason, because what’s in front of you is so much more important than what’s behind you."

He played OK. Did what most everybody - including the Highlanders expected. But it seemed nobody told the Tahs. Chased the high kicks and batted most of them like Dean Cox but was constantly left isolated, the Highlanders got most of the crumbs and turned that into two tries. They were very obviously coached to disrupt him legally with a fair amount of success - as will all other teams now. He had a couple of good moments on attack but is yet to figure out how to inject himself from 15. The way their midfield coughed up so much possession it might be better to leave him at 13?
On the positive from a Wallabies perspective, it was good to see them finally value possession enough to grind out the winning try on he pick n drive, even if it did take 77 minutes. Tupou looks fitter than I can remember and put in about 55-60 IIRC. Good around the park too. Bell played well and a good return for Dave Porecki. Too bad our coaches couldn't get the 2 try Amone as fit as Mackellar & Co have - particularly after HJH & Hoopert going amiss.
"The main difference between playing League and Union is that now I get my hangovers on Monday instead of Sunday - Tom David
I thought JAS had a debut like his Wallabies debut. He showed that he can be devastating in attack with some impressive touches, but that was matched with some errors pretty typical of a bloke in only his third? game of pro rugby. He looked pretty lost in defence much of the time and was well out of position for at least one of the Landers tries, but you expect that from a debutante. I think the plan to kick over the top was a smart one, it's something he's used to from RL and the systems around it aren't a lot different.
He just needs to get some time in the saddle and honestly do the work to address the parts of the game that are currently coming at him too fast for him to handle well.
If he shuts of muppets like Sean Maloney who already have his spot reserved in the World Rugby hall of fame and identify the weaknesses and genuinely address them, he'll be something special. By all accounts he's a very professional trainer, so it'll be god to watch.
As teams get more vision of him, he'll find them attacking his weaknesses more effectively.

Round 2:
Friday 21 February:
Chiefs vs Crusaders -14:05
Reds vs Moana Pacifika - 16:35
Saturday 22nd February:
Hurricanes vs Drua - 11:35
Highlanders vs Blues - 14:05
JAS tackle technique is a worry for me . The majority of tackles are in an upright position. Serious danger of shoulder to head at some point .
