This squad should make the final this year, best facilities in the country I think and signings of Marsters, Smith and Naiqama are huge, plus the others

With a cooler morning and a nice breeze blowing it was great being out at Wanneroo yesterday to watch the ladies team's first hit out of the season.

We appear to have assembled a decent squad together and as they build combinations and cohesion I think they will go from stregnth to stregnth.

I am still getting to know some of the faces and names so I may have missed out on some decent performers this time around, so my apologies first up.

From my limited knowledge of who was who, here are my comments:

For me the stand outs were Grace Freeman and Pia Apsell.

Our locking combination of Sera Naiqama and Michaela Leonard is going to pretty solid going forward.

Trilleen Pomare really came into her own the longer the game went on.

Hera Barb Malcolm-Heke is looking like remaining a Walleroo this year.

Our back three is going to be good to watch with Adi Vani Buleki and Brooklyn Teki Joyce looking the goods with Halley Derera being very solid under the high ball all morning and Haylee Hifo making sure there will be lots of competition for places.

Cecilia Smith is going to add lots to the rugby IQ, mentoring and growth of this squad.

Was Ash Marsters at the game?

I'm keen to see where she lines up, apparently she can play anywhere on the field, but the positions she's held at a high level before are occupied by some pretty capable ladies.
