If I was having a bet on this, I'd guess both Joseph and "The Wizard" will play against Bristol, with Sualii getting a debut against Wales and maybe Scotland as well if he goes OK.

Schmidt flags Test debut for Suaalii on Spring Tour with Lions series looming

Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt admits he is likely to hand million-dollar recruit Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii a Test debut on the upcoming Spring Tour, but said that is due to a fast-approaching Lions series – not pressure from his bosses at Rugby Australia.

I think you'd lose that bet, as the squads for the Bristol & England A games will be drawn exclusively from the XV touring party, and the Test match squads for the first two tests being drawn from the Wallabies touring party.

There is the possibility that a couple of the XV party may join up with the Wallabies for the final two tests, but nobody from the Wallabies party will be effectively "demoted" for the non-test games.

    Well; we will see,........

“It’s possible [Suaalii could play for the Australia XV] but it’s more likely that he’ll start, or come off the bench in a Wallaby fixture"......J. Schmidt. From the linked article.

I think, whilst your quotye does mention that it's not impossible, it's working more against your argument than for.

Gee, I'm sure glad you blokes helped me understand the difference between possible and probable. Now I won't be so upset if neither of them get game time in Bristol. Its a whole two & a quarter hours down the M4 to Twickenham, after all.

The way I took that (distant) "possibility" was that, if he fails to meet the threshold for the Wallabies Test team early doors, he may get a run with the XVs in their second tour game vs England A while the big boys move on to Wales, before rejoining them when they move on to Test 3.

If the intent was to play him vs Bristol, he would have been aligned with the XV squad from the start. I expect the two squads will be coached/located entirely separately & the XVs won't be used as veggies for the Test squad. They will be focused prepping for their own matches rather than being tackle fodder for the Wallabies.

These are two separate squad rather than a "Lions-esque" wide touring party that ultimately breaks into midweek dirt-trackers & test teams by the midpoint.

Well it looks like I would have lost that bet about Joseph being "eased" back into Rugby. If this report is accurate he will get a cap sooner than later.

    SUAALII SETS HIGH STANDARDS

Joseph Suaalii has had an immediate impact on the Wallabies playing group. I have spoken to people around the set-up who say players are having to lift their standards to match what Suaalii is doing on the training paddock.

Well, I've resigned myself to the fact that his first game of adult rugby will be in a Wallabies jersey and that means that I'll be either right or wrong.

    I seriously hope I'm wrong

Apparently. I don't know, & nobody apart from the staff does, whether he's ready. But the handling skills, decision making under fatigue & resilience of the recent Wallaby sides screams out for a lift in training intensity & attitude.
