    Morning all

What a great re-signing to wake up to.

I think all of you that have read my stats posts on the various games this season have seen that I have been calling for Stewart and Princep to be re-signed week after week, so I am one happy camper this morning, seeing Stewart join Princep and re-sign.

Wallaby Stewart re-signs with Force after career-best season

The Western Force are delighted to today announce the re-signing of Wallabies utility back Hamish Stewart following his career-best 2024 season.

The 26-year-old has re-committed to the Force following an outstanding 2024 Super Rugby Pacific campaign which led to his maiden Wallabies call-up for the recent Tests against Wales and Georgia, along with last week's call-up for the upcoming Tests against the Springboks where he could make his debut.

Good signing, although not really in a position that we're lacking depth in with Prinsep and Harris already on the books.
I would've thought he'd count as an overseas spot, and we should be using those for outside backs? I had assumed he'd be heading back over to NZ, but good to retain him in Australia.

Yeah, this one confuses me a bit.
    But welcome aboard I guess!

The article in The West also confirms Lock Josh Thompson, from West Harbour in Shute Shield, who played in the Cheetahs tour last year.

"Cron said Thompson had made a big impression on the Force in South Africa prior to dislocating his shoulder.

“He’s a big body. He’s dynamic, hits hard and is really keen to learn. He’s a bit of a development project in parts of his game.

He meets a lot of our criteria. He’s a great human and he wants to get better. He offers versatility to our forward options too. He adds a lot to the squad.

Thompson said he was excited to sign on with the Force."

I like the fact that we are building depth, and size/strength, in positions where we were short of cover last year.

Some of these guys have existing contracts with Rebels/rugbyau so we might just be getting him over here as he has 1 year left to run that he has to fulfill. Not sure we want players just for 1 year as we have always had an issue with high turnover but it might be a case of grab what you can get again at this stage

I'll never complain about having depth unless we're wasting the careers of Wallabies by leaving them in a tracksuit every week like the Brumbies and now the Waratahs seem to do.

I didn't think Harris exactly covered himself in glory this year, so maybe Ekuasi is the kick in the pants signing to ensure Will doesn't take things too casually.

    Josh Thompson Confirmed:

Force continue signings with addition of emerging forward Thompson

The Western Force are excited to confirm the signing of forward Josh Thompson ahead of the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season.

Thompson, who can play lock or number six, joins the Force from NSW Shute Shield club West Harbour and brings physicality and work ethic to the Force forward stocks.

Allready have cover for Kuenzle at centre.

Matt Proctor will be the first choice outside centre and Divad Palu the second option.

I am looking forward to seeing Divad get more game time as the season progresses, we need to blood him correctly

Is that an "injury cover" contract, or simply another centre who can be used to fill the gap?

Injury Cover would allow us to contract another player.

Sorry Tazz, to clarify, in this instance I meant with a long term injury if Kuenzle counts as a Squad Member or, like Tom Robertson in 23-24, he can effectively be "benched" for the year and free up a slot regardless of position. The "12" and "13" was referencing Squad slots, not positions.
