Harvey Norman pulls up stumps.
Harvey Norman has ended its multimillion-dollar sponsorship deal with Rugby Australia but denies it is a reaction to the ousting of former chairman Hamish McLennan.
The retail giant on Thursday confirmed it would not renew its sponsorship with RA next year after holding Super Rugby naming rights since 2021.
McLennan resigned as RA chairman on Sunday night after losing the support of Super Rugby clubs around the country.
Look at what the boneheads have done," McLennan told The Sydney Morning Herald after the sponsorship blow.
"They are arrogant and dopey."
Wallabies great Daniel Herbert has replaced McLennan as chairman.
Harvey Norman chairman Gerry Harvey told the Herald that his decision was not a reaction to McLennan's demise.
"No, no, no, no. It's just the sport itself. So we do that for a while then move on to the next one," Harvey said.
"And you know, at some stage – like we're doing basketball at the moment, we've never done that before - at some stage, we'll drop off that and go back and do something else.
