The world's best sevens rugby has a new home on Stan Sport.

Stan on Monday confirmed a new multi-year partnership to broadcast SVNS from 2024 on, replacing the World Rugby Sevens Series.

The new series format will include eight events from the biggest cities in the world in the lead up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games where sevens will again feature as one of the signature events.

The series will fully embrace gender parity with all eight rounds featuring not only combined men's and women's events, but also pay parity for both, ensuring that female players have equal opportunities to showcase their talents on the biggest stages around the world.

"Sevens rugby is the perfect addition to our Stan Sport lineup," Stan's director of sport Ben Kimber said.

"Building on the strength of our superb international slate of rugby, and connecting to the Paris Olympics where the Australian men's and women's teams will be right in the mix, sevens is fast, physical and entertaining year round.

"World Rugby are investing in reinventing and growing this version of their game and we're ready to bring it to a wider audience with them."

The 2023-24 series kicks off in Dubai on December 2-3 before heading to Cape Town the following week.

Perth has been locked in as a host for the 2024 and 2025 series, with the event set to take place in late January at HBF Park.

Participating men's teams include: Argentina, Australia, Canada, Fiji, France, Great Britain, Ireland, New Zealand, Samoa, South Africa, Spain, USA.

Participating women's teams include: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Fiji, France, Great Britain, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, USA.

Interesting it's "Great Britain". Wonder if that is to harmonise with Olympics?

In part yes. It's also due to funding issues for some of the unions.

The change was initiated from last season (2022-2023) onwards.
