Pool D contains: Argentina (6th), England (8th), Samoa (12th), Japan (14th) and Chile (22nd). Chile will find it pretty hard going, but given 4 years ago no-one should treat Japan lightly. Plus, with Samoa not that far behind England, it's certainly a chance that they go through.

The first Pool D match is England v Argentina, and whoever loses that could essentially be in knock-out mode for the rest of their tournament as a second loss would see them out.

I've gotta say, Issak's passing looks to have improved heaps even since Super Rugby.

Fast, wide bullets that went in front of the player. If this is the result of Nic White signing with the Force, I'm OK with it.

Definitely didn't look out of place.
Always hard to truly judge coming on so late to compare to the starter (who I think did pretty well), but promising for '24 SR at least.

I felt Eddie left the Bench too late, my only justification is if last nights starters are either bench or rested next match and wanting to get some hard running into them before a "rest week" and vv last nights bench are starting v Georgia and not wanting to overexpose them.
Will be interesting if it's a straight swap McD-White with IFL still on the bench, or if continues McD-Gordon, then presumably IFL dropped for White.
I can't see White not being in the 23 now around goal kicking, though my recollection is Donaldson is no slouch, despite not being thought of in commentary analysis.
IFL maybe needs to get the T out...
That said, dare say Gordon will be wearing out a toe on his boot practicing this week

Ben Donaldson is quite a reliable goal kicker.

Would be first choice in this squad if he's on the pitch, not sure whether it'd ever be enough to put him in front of Gordon in Eddie's eyes tho.

If Quade was available he'd eclipse donno as well

He's improved for sure; but he's always had a pretty good passing game. Where he's really improved IMO, is with his decision making. When he first came over he was a bit of a "headless chook". Effective in GRR but in the structured world of SR & Test Rugby it's a good idea if the rest of the team knows what you're trying to do, most of the time anyway.

Great kick by him though, maybe a little lower and a little longer, but great comms to IFL, and a well executed kick, leading to a great try. Definitely would have liked to see him have more game time, and by the time he came on there was NO structure in backs, and more or less no ball to work with. His touches he did have were good, but he got showed up with speed against the french winger (not really surprising).

Congrats IFL, you deserve that cap!

Just saw a clip of IFL’s Wallaby cap being presented to him by George Greegan.

    Verry fitting
