    According to Ian Payton:

Ryan McCaulley has withdrawn so that he does not risk his English eligibiity and Michael McDonald did the same not to risk his Irish eligibility.

James Tuttle from the Rebels added to the squad as scumhalf as Fines is still injured.

Wow England and Ireland have a lot of depth so that sounds like a risk. Are they both at the Force next year.

I don't know how they qualify and they are within their rights; but I've never liked the criteria extending beyond parents. Particularly in comparison with how hard it's been to re-qualify for a lower tiered home nation. The Mungos are even worse in their desperation to run "world" cups.

P.S. After all his troubles, it was refreshing to see Jack De Bellin decline approaches from PNG this week, saying he'd feel like a fraud as well as denying a legitimate player a chance to go to the UK. His qualification - a maternal Granny happened to be born there with no PNG heritage.

Ryan MacCauley is being a bit optimistic if he is worried about his English eligibility.

Not really. If he never comes close to lining up for England it still makes him an attractive buy for an English club who don't have to fit him into their foreign player pool.

Surprise call for international selection brings Western Force flanker Ollie Callan’s holiday to a quick end

Homegrown Western Force flanker Ollie Callan had just arrived for a holiday with relatives in England when his phone began buzzing.

It was Australia ‘A’ coach Jason Gilmore calling to say he had been picked for next month’s tour to Japan, bringing his trip to an abrupt end as he hastily reorganised a flight back to Perth.

Callan, who has come through the Wanneroo Districts club, joins fly-half/centre Bayley Kuenzle and newly-signed playmaker Hamish Stewart all getting their first call-up, and prop Tom Robertson in the squad.

Callan’s phone started buzzing when he arrived at his aunt’s house with brother Luke, who is also in the Force squad, and dad Jason.........
