Wasn't his missus working for the Greens? If so, is he Independent or does he just think running on a Greens ticket might not be a plus?

Wow. Who saw that one coming?

“I’ve always thought that I could potentially have more impact outside the political system..................................
..................................That really reaffirmed and highlighted the need for better political leadership.”

Good luck with that. I reckon Peter Garrett had similar thoughts. The broken "system" that is party politics simply moved him aside from where he intended to make a difference when he began to look an electoral liability.

He may have more impact as one of a growing group of independents, rather than a Green.

As an independent he would be free to vote whichever way he wanted in Parliament, rather than being obliged to vote the way the party wanted him to if he were a Greens Senator.

    I’d vote for him!

Maybe he’s the kind of politician we need.
At least he says he wants to represent the people unlike the current bunch who only want to represent themselves.
    He will get my vote.

His main problem was credibility. He tossed that out the window when he said he supports the Qld in Origin.
