First They Came for the Southern Lions, But I Was Not A Lion .....

So the word is out that Associates (through the Union of course) have had their recent loss to Southern Lions overturned, and the points awarded to themselves. How smugly satisfying for them.

Whatever happened to abiding by the referee's decision and the referee being the sole arbiter of fact and law? Only when it suits it seems.

And this act of bastardry and nepotism isn't over yet, I very much suspect.

I guess you are similarly against post match citations of any incident not picked up by the referee as has happened multiple times in professional rugby and, I assume, also occurs, perhaps less frequently, in community rugby.

There was a fair bit more behind the original "result", some of which was out of the referee's hands and to do with certain decisions of the team leaders at the material time.

So why award competition points to Associates, Ecky?

I don't know enough about it, sorry. There was a serious injury and the injured player remained on the ground where he fell for a very, very long time. I understand that there was another pitch obviously available but, when the offer was made to both camps, they could not come to agreement to move the game to finish on the second pitch. I can only imagine that there was an opportunity to complete the match on the main pitch, but this would have been after nightfall by the time the injured player was finally ambulanced away. How good the lights are for the actual playing of a match (not just training) is presumably one consideration. What seems to have happened on the day was that either (a) "no side" was called, or (b) match was abandoned. I know not which for sure and certain.

Why and how the decision alluded to in your first post was made would be up to those Movers and Shakers in RWA to provide detail about.

Didn't help them too much, I just saw the ladder and saw Soaks are in the Povo division
