[QUOTE=Tazzmania;482266]I must say I find Sean Maloney's commentary very juvenile and lacking in rugby detail, he just raises his voice and over pronunciates the players name when they get the ball. I find he offers very little "commentary" on what is actually happening in a "rugby sense" or what actually happened in the "play". He is more suited to sevens party astmostphere commentary.

Well said...I thought it was just me. His over pronunciation of the players names drives me crazy.

Sadly looks like Jonah Placid has given way to young Finn Ocallahan on the bench, would have been good to see Jonah get one last run on.

Note: Tim Samson seemed to be practising his kicking skills at the captains run, a possible another late repalcement?

I think that is good to see that the STAN team is making an effort to correctly pronounce player's names. Rather than the butcher job that the FoxSports team did, and did for over 20+ years.

It is just unfortunate that the Islander names don't "flow off the tongue" as they do for the Kiwis.

In rugby I think we lack the ability of some of the AFL commentators to describe what is happening and its context, I think this stems back to the AFL commentators also having do radio commentaries or at least cut their teeth there orginally, where it entails a more informative picture needing to be described.

As for Justin Harrison dont get me started........

    Just my thoughts
Could not agree more about Maloney. Always been the same

Is that our bench backrower? Are those numbers accurate? Almost 200cm and 140kgs? He's a monster in the Skelton mould.

Probably of the broadcast not being rugby but instead being dwarf porn: Moderate.

He is huge. The only thing bigger is his name Zantanamaud Pomare-Tutagalevao

Looking at the other profiles, if accurate, Connor Seve is a pretty solid specimen too at 19 years old, 117kg and 200cm. You'd think he'd bulk up a bit too as his body develops.

Steam seems a bit dodgy- shame it isn't being broadcast via radio....
