The boys are on their way to Brumbieland

The boys have left according to Nick Taylor in The West because they were banned from training in Perth
    They've taken a squad of 29.

But they can train together in another jurisdiction? That’s kind of nuts!

Western Force face the most important game in their 16-season history when they clash with the Brumbies in Saturday’s Super Rugby qualifying final in Canberra.

The 30-27 win against the Queensland Reds last Friday was only the third time they have managed three consecutive victories and it sent them to their maiden finals appearance.

But to win the title against the Reds in Brisbane in two weeks they will need to emulate the 2014 side that went on a five-game winning run.

They only other time they went three games unbeaten was in 2007.

The Force were granted exemptions and flew to Canberra today because they were not allowed to train in Perth.

They took the match day 23 from Friday’s victory and full-back Rob Kearney, winger Marcel Brache, centre Henry Taefu, hooker Jack Winchester, prop Kieran Longbottom and flanker Ollie Callan.

Head of rugby Matt Hodgson said they will be in hotel quarantine in Canberra until the WA lockdown ends but can train in isolation.

He said playing all last season’s games on the road in Eastern State bubbles has them well-prepared for what awaits in Canberra.

“We prepared for this earlier in the year and last year put us in good stead,” Hodgson said.

“For the length of WA’s lockdown we are in hotel lockdown and can’t leave our rooms but we have an exemption to train.

“Canberra will mirror what happens in WA at this stage and hopefully we can go back to normal soon.

“We couldn’t get exemptions to train in Perth while the lockdown continues, so decided to mitigate the risk and get to Canberra as early as possible so we won’t be rushed at the back end of the week.

“We’d rather front end load a bit of the stress and then be in Canberra as normal.”

The Force had just four wins - two in Canberra - and a draw in 18 games against the Brumbies in the previous Super Rugby competition.

They have not beaten them in four attempts in the two years of the new Australian competition but Hodgson, who played in the 2014 winning run, is confident.

“We have gathered momentum the last three weeks, there is cohesion in the squad and consistency with selection,” he said.

“We have not had bulk injuries and we are starting to see what we did at the front end of the year coming to fruition.

“Let’s make it 10 wins (into the trans-Tasman competition) and go all the way through New Zealand too.”

If they win in Canberra the Force will fly back to Perth on Sunday but have back-up plans to stay in the ACT before moving to Brisbane if the WA lockdown continues.

Fk me. What do you reckon the chances are that the Eagles and Dockers haven't been given dispensation to train in Perth?

As long as it’s in a bubble it’s in line with what’s been happening elsewhere. So if for nothing else but consistency it’s ok IMO. But in theory & depending on WA caseload/contacts - as of 3pm tomorrow local time they’ll be out of quarantine anyway. So they might really only miss in session as it is. Best case scenario anyway.

I assume similar to the instructions North Melbourne received from the Victorian government.

They have to isolate at home but received an exemption to train and prepare for next weeks game at the headquarters of the side.

ABC reporting the mob who played Freo has flown back to VIC but have to isolate for 14 days but can train in isolation. The list of compromised sites is still growing here jono. Got everything crossed right now.

Wot Jargs said. How come if we've all had to have the app to get in everywhere, they are still asking people to Come forward? They should be able to ring or message the phones.

Because heaps of morons out there aren't using the app, even today when I went to the shop to pick up a few things I saw a couple of people just stroll in.

I'm unsure when the manual registers are uploaded or just sent to the Health Department?

Complacency in this city is ridiculous, hell I saw a bloke try to walk into the local IGA without a mask on today ffs.

Historic night for Western Force, now to back it up

They went in as massive underdogs, but Western Force emerged victorious to not only secure themselves a spot in the Super Rugby AU finals, but also write an unforgettable page in the club's history.

Kuridrani's been cited for his tip tackle.

V good chance that we won't have him for the next few matches.

    It was ugly and careless.
But surely if ref, the video ref, and 2 assistant refs have reviewed it in slow motion for a few minutes. Gave him a yellow card, then that should be that.

Not too unhappy about that, as it lets us put kahui in at 13. For mine he offers a lot more than Kuridrani, especially with his offloading. Taefu on the bench will also be good.
