Go wide after one ruck against a set defence giving our outside backs zero chance to make an impact before giving up the ball with a garbage kick.

    Things I'd like to see:
    - Evidence that they've worked on the attack plan (or lack thereof), working on the basic premise of earning the right to go wide. Ideally start employing 2 lines of attackers like other teams appear to be doing which much better effect (although I doubt 2 weeks has been enough to get this going)
    - Anstee in the starting 15, along with Timani, FLW and Koteka to give us penetration in the forwards
    - Miotti into the 23 (or even the 15) with McIntyre injured
    - If Godwin and Kahui are available, I'd go with them and Taefu as our centres.
    - Brache not in the 15. I love the guys effort and positivity he gives to the team, but I think we have more dangerous players available for the centres and wing
    - Olofowela to be given a decent run to see what he can do
    - K-bomb to be given a run
    - And obviously a victory

All four Argies to start should be interesting.

Starting back line looks like a decent change up and will hopefully offer something different to what we have had so far. However, if either McGregor or Miotti struggle or go down we do not have specialist replacements and could be found wanting by using Prior in one of those positions.

Stander must be carry an injury, it was unusual to see him come off last time and even with the bye he has obviously not fully recovered. I assume he will drop off the bench with one of the hookers (Ready / Wnchester)

First look at Jordan Olowofela and KBomb finishing to steady the scrum. Apart from Holmes being out, I think this is about the strongest team the coaches could name. Bring it on!!

I wonder if Stander is a rotation thing? Koteka has run up a lot of miles too.

P.S. had forgotten Stander coming off last time.

Prior is a scrummie first and foremost but I think he has played 10 at Super level before and maybe 15 too, IIRC.

Dropping Taefu altogether makes zero sense to me. What more does the guy have to do?!!!

I would say by that list the plan is for Miotti to play 80 with McGregor as injury cover, but McGregor is likely slated to play 80 at fullback.

If either one of them is injured, I'd suggest the plan will be to rapidly shuffle deckchairs and try to get away with it.

None of the backs on the bench are noted for playing either 10 or 15 (Stitch has played 10, but even kindly, I'd suggest he's not the guy we want there) there are still 2 bench players to be left out. I'd suggest it's likely Brynard (if he's fit, he starts, if not he wears a suit) and a hooker (why anybody would name a bench with 4 front rowers and no specialist backs I can't figure out)

Barring any other possibilities, like Kahui not passing whatever fitness testing he needs to or etc

Godwin played some 10 at U20 level didn't he?

Be a better option than Kyle Godwin and Tevita Kuridrani

Godwin I'm not sure about, but He's got a genuine shot at Kuridrani based upon this season

Anyone know who makes the decisions on selection? Is it just the coaches or does the CEO or anyone else have a say too? Who has the final decision?

Yep, very disappointing and puzzling to see Taefu dropped from the 23 given he's probably put in the best performances in the centres so far this season.
Also strange that Lance isn't on the bench to provide proper cover at 10 and 15, after he performed quite well in the game against the Brumbies coming on very early.
Not sure what more we need to see from Anstee before he gets into the 15 - he looks like a genuine threat whenever he's on the field and he seems to be OK in the set piece also.

Winchester and Macauley to be omitted hopefully (FLW can move to lock to replace Thrush or Timani)

Nick Taylors article in The West with John McKee saying “pick & drives haven’t been achieving very much (ya think!?)so they’tweaked a few things for attack”
Is McKee in charge of attack? Thought Sambo was the attack coach. I’d really like to see them play as confident & creative in attack that we used to see in NRC games. They’re a better team than the Rebs which makes the losses more disgusting. I see Naisarani is back in - will pbly be used as a battering ram again, and Cameron as well.

Both Godwin and Taefu are genuine 12's and Kurindrani and Kahui genuine 13 's, Godwin and Kurindrani where always going to be be our first and portentially best selection in the midfield and finally we can do so, therefore I think it was a logical choice. Kuhui off the bench is potentially a better impact player that Taefu

Don't think I agree with the statement "pick and drives haven't been achieving much". They've been achieving plenty when used in general play and are a good way to get the defensive line scrambling backwards and inwards to provide space outside that we haven't been seeing.
I don't count the scrumhalf passing to the first pod of forwards as a pick and drive - this is what we've been seeing and generally goes nowhere

The pick and drives haven't achieved much when used on the try line repeatedly until we're eventually held up over the line. Should be used 2 or 3 times max in this scenario, and then the ball should be shifted quickly outside with the defense hopefully being condensed.

You would think this sort of basic attacking thinking would be very easy to drill into the players. 1 to 5 phases in short (scrumhalf snipe, pick & drive, forward pod or short side push), then when quick ball is achieved at the breakdown, move the ball out wide, with the backline engaging the defense and performing some simple draw and pass until space is found. Rinse and repeat.
