Opine away, I say. It just seems great folly to me to lay blame/credit for any result on the match official.

Like I said; I'll keep my opinion to myself. I never (publicly anyway) blame referees for my teams losing matches. And I'm not changing the habit of a life time for that prick!

    Ecky, I need to clarify,

When the Rebels outrageously collapsed our scrum on our line with centimetres to go, all having changed their bind and rolled around the outside it wasn't an INCONSISTENT call, as he ignored that stuff all match. It was however an area that IMHO should have been policed.

The scrum call, from the far side, with the TJ 10m back when the Rebs prop dove at the ground, that one I can't explain

Both calls destroyed excellent chances close to the try line, I'm not going to call them guaranteed tries, because that's something for the Rugby gods to decide, but they sure looked like they were gonna make it to me!

Would that be a situation that a captains call could be made to double check? Like they are trialing in New Zealand.

I guess if the Captain's Call was in I'd be using it on the maul. The unfortunate issue is that, despite it being clear and obvious that the maul was pulled down from the back by Rebels players who had swam around the outside It's still the same ref making the call and we would have squandered the opportunity, since he simply wasn't reffing that aspect of the game that night.

Not if it works as poorly as in the Chiefs-Crusaders game. Not a trial that is flavour of the month atm, apparently...

GIGS you didn't need to clarify. Yours wasn't the post I was reacting to
