Force star Johan Bardoul elevated to Premier Grade head coaching role with Perth Bays

The Committee of Perth Bayswater Rugby Union Club have announced that they have appointed former Western Force and Waikato Chiefs loose forward Johan Bardoul as the Numbats new head coach for the 2021 Fortescue Premier Grade season.

Following his retirement from the playing jersey, Bardoul has opted to continue his rugby career in coaching having previously played professionally for Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Super Rugby side the Chiefs as well as Yamaha and Coca Cola Red Sparks in Japan.

Despite his relative inexperience as a head coach, Perth Bayswater’s club captain Steve Wharerau believes Bardoul will bring a high level of passion and commitment to the role having previously played under a number of high-level coaches including current Wallabies head coach Dave Rennie.

“Yogi (Johan Bardoul) brings professionalism, standards and a hunger for success which the club is ready to embrace,” Wharerau said.

“Both Johan and the committee are already busy at work focusing on retention and recruitment of key players, coaches, support staff and managers as well as looking to increase our volunteer work base.”

“He has a tremendous understanding and knowledge of the game and was a massive influence at the club when he joined with the Force in 2018.”

“There is already a lot of excitement in and around the club and everybody is looking forward to working with Johan in what will be a very promising 2021 Premier Grade season.”

Bardoul in commenting on his appointment advises that he is excited to be given the opportunity at a club he has a strong affinity for.

His desire for success comes with clear ideas on how this can be achieved already putting plans in place to prepare for a very different Perth Bayswater pre-season.
