    T20 World Cup Postponed

This one is for a certain someone out there who I assume is still trying to log in

T20 World Cup in Australia postponed over COVID-19 fears

The men’s T20 World Cup due to take place in Australia from October has been postponed until next year due to the coronavirus pandemic, the International Cricket Council announced on Monday.
Officials said they now hoped to stage the tournament from October to November 2021.

There will also be a T20 World Cup in 2022, with the 2023 50-over World Cup in India pushed back until October-November of that year.

“We have undertaken a comprehensive and complex contingency planning exercise and through this process, our number one priority has been to protect the health and safety of everyone involved in the sport,” said ICC chief executive Manu Sawhney.

“The decision to postpone the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup was taken after careful consideration of all of the options available to us and gives us the best possible opportunity of delivering two safe and successful T20 World Cups for fans around the world.” COVID-19 has played havoc with the global sporting calendar but international cricket has resumed behind closed doors in England, with the host nation taking on the West Indies in a three-Test series.

Pakistan are also in England preparing for a series of Tests and Twenty20 matches and Australia are making preparations for a potential limited-overs tour of England.

Selectors named a preliminary squad last week but Cricket Australia said “several hurdles” had to be overcome before dates could be locked in.

Australia were originally scheduled to play three one-day and three T20 internationals this month but the trip was postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

So 2021 could have October-November with the T20 world cup and then December-January hosting the Ashes!

If Spartan does manage to log in, maybe he'll apologise for calling my comment 'bizarre' that I didn't think a Super Rugby Australia competition with the Sunwolves involved would be feasible. How did that go?

Not sure where this should be posted, but great to see John Mitchell's son Daryl (Ex West Australian) getting the Kiwi's home against England.

    From the West:

New Zealand have once again upset the odds, proving themselves surely the best all-format side in cricket by powering past England by five wickets in their T20 World Cup semi-final and setting themselves up for a shot at a second global title of the year.

The World Test champions once again remained icy cool under pressure in the furnace of the short format chase in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday just as the chance to meet either Australia or Pakistan in Sunday’s final seemed to have slipped away with four overs left.

Yet with 57 needed off those 24 balls, the Black Caps found a new hero in unsung opener Daryl Mitchell, who delivered dazzlingly in the denouement, racing to an unbeaten 72 off 47 balls as the wheels came off for the favourites.

Watched by his emotional-looking father, former All Blacks rugby coach John Mitchell, the 30-year-old had earlier suffered some real struggles on a pitch that seemed a bit sluggish and two-paced as he tried to lead the pursuit of England’s challenging 4-166......

That one over from Chris Jordan is what lost England the game.

You don't concede 58 runs in 3 overs and blame one bowler. I reckon the last over from Chris Woakes was one of the worst death overs I've ever seen.
