Rugby Union Western Force Western Force veteran Heath Tessmann urges side to adapt to

Great quote from Tess about being bored!

Western Force veteran Heath Tessmann urges side to adapt to Super Rugby rule variations quickly

Western Force hooker Heath Tessmann says the onus is on players to adapt to new law variations as they prepare for their new Super Rugby campaign.
The testy veteran of 73 Super games who is relishing the challenge of facing former foes says players will need to work harder and smarter.
The interpretations are designed to speed up messy rucks. Ball carriers are only allowed one dynamic movement once they hit the deck and the tackle is complete and poachers must make a genuine turnover attempt.
Referees will also clamp down on the offside line.
“It’s going to be hard to get used to if you make it hard for yourself,” Tessmann said.
“If we go out there not thinking then we can make mistakes and all of a sudden it can be a pretty hard night.
“We must do the basic things a little bit better, work harder to be in a better position, have awareness of winning collisions.
“We’ve had referees give us some insights into how they are going to be refereeing. It’s just about us adjusting.”
Tessmann originally moved to the Force in 2013 as short term injury cover and stayed loyal when the club was controversially axed by Rugby Australia three years ago.
He is counting down the days to renew old rivalries with the Force opening their season against the Waratahs on July 11 in Sydney.
“We’ve gone through a few highs and lows. We’ve wanted to test ourselves against the other Aussie teams. That’s what we’re looking forward to most,” Tessmann said.
“We’re not putting our hand up to be a part of this competition just to play a bit of rugby because we’re bored. We want to go out there to win.
“When it comes to the team being selected for the first game there will be a whole range of emotions to deal with.
“A few senior guys have spoken about not knowing whether or not we get another chance at Super Rugby level.
“Giving some of the young guys the opportunity to compete for Wallabies positions is a pretty big thing as well.”

Too right! Reckon the guys are all pretty hungry and have a point to prove, and not the point that the Force belongs, but that condescending attitude from other teams that they’re not up to the level must really sting. I’ll be happy if they can slap a few knockers down and win a few.
