If you're TAFE exams have Simpsons & Seinfeld questions, you're a laydown for a distinction.

No. But I'm OK with it. 1.) Leaves WA Rugby juniors less exposed. 2.) The annual NRL money spinners will probably continue and I can go watch Canterbury or Souffs sometimes without an airfare. It sounds like the "new" consortium tried to sweet talk their way in with minimal $'s in the kitty. If the clowns from 1995 had come under the same scrutiny the whole sorry saga might never have got off the ground. Don't know how many others felt the same; but I was never gonna support a nonperforming second hand outfit from "The East".

P.S. Why does V'landys always look like he's squeezing off a fart when he tries to smile??

I haven't followed very closely, but the headline I read suggested they didn't offer enough in the "entry fee", it sounds a bit like a sanctioned bribe, which I'd be happy for the WA govt to tell Vlandys to use as a suppository as well.

PVL on Triple M Sydney at some stage today - "Previous bid from the Western Bears wasn't where we'd like it from a business case perspective but have had very positive discussions with the WA state government in the last 7 days"

Peter Beattie messaged them just a couple of months ago that the bid is "outstanding". So it's hard to come to any other conclusion than what "sauces" are claiming - that the unwillingness to cough up a licensing fee is the stumbling block.

If the business case is truly outstanding; and the NRL still chooses an attempt to strongarm the WA govt into underwriting a $500 million bribe, they should tell them to make a short trip to Watson's Bay and take a flying leap.

I would expect though, that unfortunately the state government will follow the lead of their federal counterparts, since they are the same side of politics.

Either way V'Landys will get 500Mill from Australian taxpayers.

While I hope you're not, you could be right about the outcome. But you're reasoning is off the mark. Like just about every national security decision, the 2 major parties are agreed on the PNG position.
It's normally only where we are not directly affected that the wedge comes out.

I have to admit, I'm not really across the detail of the PNG deal, so wasn't ware about bipartisan support.

Chalk it up to not really being a mungo supoprter.
