Hopefully Shep will get to make his test start debut!!!!
Former Waratahs winger Cameron Shepherd is scheduled to make his Test starting debut against the Springboks in the final Tri Nations match in Johannesburg on September 9.
Although it was anticipated Mark Gerrard would take over the wing spot made vacant by Lote Tuqiri's suspension, the Wallabies' selectors are eager to give Shepherd his chance to show whether he has the pace and poise to be a regular Test player.
Clyde Rathbone was preferred to Gerrard for the final Bledisloe Cup match in Auckland last Saturday, primarily because the ACT winger has greater speed.
This same attribute should work in Shepherd's favour, giving the selectors the opportunity to reward a player they regard highly, which would see Gerrard stay on the reserves bench.
Other options for Tuqiri's wing include Drew Mitchell and Mat Rogers, but it is certain to come down to Shepherd or Gerrard.
