Along with the image of our fabulous state of Western Australia on the away jersey, the design feature on the shoulders of both the jerseys represents iron ore to mark another of our state’s (and FMG/Andrew Forrest’s) success stories.

I think the designers at Palladin have done the best job that I have ever seen in 15 years of Western Force jerseys! I think the gold and black away jersey will fly out of the door!

    LADIES:

They have not done any women’s-fit jerseys, BUT if there are enough of us who commit to buying one, the Force will arrange a special run to be done just for us

The ladies ones? Very unlikely I’d say. We need to see what the numbers are like before they’ll put in an order.

Western Force map out future with new strip

One of the Western Force’s new uniforms features an outline of the entire state of WA, with the club revealing their fresh look at a season launch this morning.

It comes as the Force prepare to kick off their $1 million Global Rapid Rugby campaign as part of a double-header at HBF Park next month.

Captain Ian Prior said it was important to have the strong association with the history of Rugby in WA.

Coach Tim Sampson also launched the Force rookie program designed to keep young talent in WA and prevent poaching by the Eastern States.

GRR has rescheduled some games because of the coronavirus outbreak but chief executive Mark Evans said: “It is all systems go.”

The Force play their first game on Saturday, March 14, against the Malaysia Valke, a team backed by South African Currie Cup club Valke.

In the earlier game at HBF, Manuma Samoa play Hong Kong’s South China Tigers, while Fijian Latui face China Lions in Fiji.

The major changes surround home games for China Lions, who are in a joint venture with New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty.

They were due to play three games in Shanghai and two in Rotorua but because of travel restrictions will now play three in NZ and two in Australia at venues to be confirmed. The Australian venues have not yet been confirmed but are not expected to be in Perth.

The Tigers are now scheduled to play their home games at the back end of the season as coronavirus restrictions are monitored.

“The situation in China and its effects elsewhere have meant the schedule has been amended a little but, I’m proud to say, there is not one hurdle we have not been able to overcome,” Evans said.

“The health and welfare of the players, the coaches and our fans has been our number one concern and we have followed the advice of all relevant authorities, including the World Health Organisation, every step of the way.

“The amendments have not weakened the integrity of the tournament.

“It’s exciting to think that six teams representing the rich tradition of Australia and New Zealand, the exciting potential of Asia, and the raw talent of the Pacific Islands will be on show and growing the game of rugby.”

Force play their second trial match against a side made up of Sydney Shute Shute players in Newcastle on Saturday.

The other thing Mark Evans said this morning was that next year there would be eight teams, which he said he thought was the optimal number for the GRR competition.

The future is looking very bright indeed for WA rugby!!

Not too sure of the detail for the Fortescue Rookies program or how that coalesces with the Future Force. They could be one and the same as Steve Anderson is the Rookies coach. May be a question to ask at the Members Day next month?
