Norths are extremely excited to announce that Jordan Luke flies out to Perth this evening to join the Western Force.

When Jordy arrived at #TheNorthsNest a few years ago from Perth, it was hard to ignore his professionalism and desire to win.

You hear stories of those successful players all the time who are first to training, last to leave, working on their extras constantly, recovering correctly, following medical advice, always available to help when asked, and helps when not asked... that is exactly the type of man Jordy has been during his time at Norths. A genuine leader.

He has worked extremely hard over these last few years and was rightly so rewarded with a spot in the QLD 7s side in 2018 and the Brisbane City NRC roster in 2019.

It wasn't too far into the NRC season before the coaching staff noticed his attitude matched his abilities, and he earned his first Brisbane City NRC jersey.
He scored a hat-trick in his debut game, and was a regular selection from then on.

Jordy, we are very very proud, and you will be missed immensely by not only all Eagles, but the wider Norths community.
We thank you your service in the Eagles jersey and wish you every success back home in Perth.

I think the Force just gained a number of new fans!

Great to see another local player returning home

Now for DH-P, RH-P, Louwtens & the rest to head home before they close the state border. They can start training with the squad for whatever Rugby comp rises from the ashes of RA and their subsidiary Rabble.

Twiggy is into so many industries and investments outside of FMG and iron-ore these days.
    https://www.minderoogroup.com/2019/1...capital-raise/

The only temporary duds I can see currently would be the Old Brewery site and Indiana tearooms (restaurants and pubs are closed for 6 months or more). But these are small fry and gives him a chance to redevelop them.
I would not be surprised if he bought a few more like this in the next few months.

    Counter-cycle investing?

Why not buy the RA in a few months time?

He is re-fitting the Swan Brewery as the new Minderoo HQ.

Looks pretty close, so name your team to SMASH the Tahs

this is likely to cause significant discussion, because the new signings are going to make most positions pretty hotly contested

    Mine will be
    1 Greg Holmes
    2 Heath Tessmann
    3 Kieran Longbottom
    4 Johan Bardoul
    5 Jeremy Thrush
    6 Henry Stowers
    7 Tevin Ferris
    8 Brynard Stander
    9 Ian Prior (c)
    10 Jono Lance
11 Jonah Placid (Making an assumption He'll be right for it)/Pama Fou
    12 Henry Taefu
    13 Kyle Godwin
    14 Brad Lacey
    15 Jack McGregor

    16 Chris Heiberg
    17 Andrew Ready
    18 Tom Sheminant
    19 Kane Koteka
    20 Fergus Lee-Warner
    21 Jacob Abel
    22 Nick Jooste
    23 Byron Ralston

Shit there are some tough calls in there! I think there is massive opportunity for Sambo to pull a horses for courses selection criteria in most positions, with the only clear decisions I can see in 9 & 10.

I didn't pick Atkins because I don't know much about him, I wouldn't question his addition anywhere in the team from starting to benching
I went with Ferris over Koteka because I'm not sure how Kane has developed, again he might win that battle clearly, either way, Alcock could easily start in 7 and the others be fighting it out for the bench. I reckon Stowers and Stander are pretty clear though. If you want a tall back row, you could easily do that with several backrowers who could slot in at lock in a pinch. that was the main reason I picked Fergus on the bench, covering 2 slots like he has the ability to, means we can afford another specialist in Kane there.
Rory could easily take a spot off Jacob (don't we have another 9 option? I couldn't come up with another name, so that might be the list) but Prior is a shoo in for close to 80 minutes, Whoever plays bench 9 will struggle for game time.
Jono won't play 80 minutes, so I named some backup 10s in the run on side, Prior or McGregor would have to slot in, which bought me to the outside backs next. with the potential (likelihood) of McGregor hitting the 10 later in the match I was really keen on putting Strachan on the bench, but Ralston is a really dangerous option, so I went with that, that might need to be rethought if we need some experienced cover at 15 once the flyhalf shuffle occurs.

The centres was also a really tough call. For me Godwin won the battle, but not by enough for me to be confident that lineup will even make it past next week. Godwin makes a classy option at 13, which means Jooste really can't be the 12 (as well as he played there in the NRC it's just too monochrome) so I went with Henry to provide that point of difference and offer a fairly traditional Australian 12-13 pairing, however with Jooste on the bench, there are lots of options, We could replace henry with Jooste and play crashball with massive humans in that channel, we could make use of Lacey's time playing 13 and finish the game with Jooste and Lacey for speed on the outside or we could keep henry, slot Jooste into 13 for fresh legs in the hard work channel. I picked this way more for versatility than any thought that there was a clear leader.

I feel bad for Alcock and Brache, both of whom have been exceedingly loyal servants to the team and deserve a spot, I expect they will come when needed.

Hoping the Tahs get bullied at every contest and go into their shell in exactly the same way they did in 2017, highly likely since most of their team will be the same!

Only 6 of the team which started for the Waratahs in that match are still at the club, the side was: 15 Israel Folau, 14 Taqele Naiyaravoro, 13 Rob Horne, 12 David Horwitz, 11 Cam Clark, 10 Bernard Foley, 9 Jake Gordon, 8 Michael Wells, 7 Michael Hooper (c), 6 Jack Dempsey, 5 Dean Mumm, 4 Ned Hanigan, 3 Sekope Kepu, 2 Damien Fitzpatrick, 1 Tom Robertson
Replacements: 16 Hugh Roach, 17 David Lolohea, 18 Angus Taavao, 19 David Mcduling, 20 Ryan Mccauley, 21 Nick Phipps, 22 Mack Mason, 23 Andrew Kellaway

Fitzpatrick would have made it 7, but he's just retired. Including reserves, only a third of the team can possibly be the same. Although they could play with Tet Faulkner and Alex Newsome who were playing in Force blue for that game.

    Official announcement tomorrow I'm told.
Big loss, would have loved to see him smash it up again in Super Rugby.
